Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We travelled here in June 2018 from Waingapu by motorbike. It's about 80 km away in our motorbike clock from Waingapu and took us 3 hours to get here. The main road to get here was really good and smooth. It took us 2 hours on the way back to Waingapu as we stopped a lot on the way here.
For direction if you travel on your own;
- Go straight to Melolo.
Once you're into town turn in to the street right before Melolo police station on the right handside
- Follow the road about 8 kms until you find SD(elementary school) inpres Melolo on the right handside.
-Turn into the street right opposite the school and keep follow the road for 4 kms until you drive through unpaved road (you will drive up and down also past 2 different villages)
- Once you past the last village you'll see some small huts on the right handside where you can park your vehicles there. (Paid 5000 rupiah for motorbike park to local community)
We hire a lady as our porter to bring our small backpack as we're travel here with a toddler and to support the community (afaik people who live in the last village who made the trekking lane and built some wooden hand rail on the steep trek to hold on for trekking up and down to waterfall also regularly clean the rubbish in the area from irresponsible traveller) normally you will get down there for half an hour slow trekking.
Tips : - Come early morning to enjoy the waterfall without crowd, we arrived at 10 am on weekday but still relatively enjoyable, less people. But lots of people arrived in groups as we climbed up back to the base huts.
- Avoid come here on weekend
- I suggest to hire local guide or porter particularly if you bring some bags as the trekking require relatively physical condition also to support the local community to keep this gem clean as they work together independently. No fix fee for guide or porter, you pay as you wish for they hard work.
- Please bring back home all your rubbish
- There will be some locals selling fresh tasty coconut or instant noodle coffee or tea in the huts where you can buy. Really nice coconut after 30 mins climb up.
My wife wasn't happy at all during trekking down but once she's there it's worth paid all every steps to get here!
Hope everyone find it useful!

it takes about 30 minutes from the parking area to reach the waterfall. The road is not easy, its ups and downs with very minimum safety. You must be very fit if you want to reach the waterfall. But once you are there, all you can do is amazed with the beauty of the green, blue , tosca pond. Jump, swim and enjoy the water as it will refresh you.

I considered myself very lucky, while visitting this waterfall. Since there are only 2 groups including mine, which falls into total 10 persons.
It makes you can enjoy this secluded natural pond with small waterfall just the 10 of you.
It is very relaxing and soothing.
My driver told me that if it is on a normal touristy days, there could be hundreds of people coming in. Which would not be comfortable and safe enough.
Since, the location is not to big to cater large people. And the path track to reach this location is full of steep hills and lots of steps / stairs.
So timing is very important. I suggest to arrived earlier in the morning, meaning 0800AM arrived at the location. Besides, during the time the sun is still friendly.
If it is on a rainy season, you might want to take a good attention with the rain-cloud movement. Make sure you are out of the location (in the main road) when the rain is about to come. The quite a chance, you've might stucked due to flood river that might blocked the vehicles entrance / exit.
There are no admissions fee to this attraction.

Took around 2 hrs to get here from Waingapu with some difficult road, and continued 30 mins trekking went down to waterfall from parking area. Carefull with ur step bit slippery here. There are like 3 pools here,u can swim or jump from waterfall cause waterfall not too high. But be carefull when you climb up. I didnt go to 3rd pool because u must climbed up along the rock wall. So just endjoy in 2nd pool. Enjoy nature and pure environment here although when I went here its pretty crowded. But its okay....just chill urself and enjoy :) :)

I can't see the waterfall because too crowded. Trekking down the step hills for 20 minutes and you can swim here. Too crowded when I was here so I just sit far from the waterfall. But this place is nice.
I'm sure the waterfall is beautiful from the pics I saw online. Hope I can back to have more experience here. Be sure to take backup clothes as you will get wet to see the waterfall.

To get to this waterfall, need some great efforts coz there are lack of infrastructures. You need good mountain shoes for tracking and will be better if you go during weekday, so you can enjoy the waterfall with not many people.
Good to put sign "Do Not Smoking", coz so many local people coming there and smokes.

The last end of the path to Waimarang nature pool need to add stairs. It is very steep and slippery. Difficult for the elders and kids to access. The road need to be fixed too. The entrance and parking fee have to be managed well as there is no official regulation on it. Someone sitting in a hut on the parking area expecting to get payment from visitors

Have ever been to swim in a private swimming pool in a jungle, somewhere down under the hill, walking, hiking, climbing in a rocky narrow path for about 30 minutes long? That's the answer how you can reach Waimarang waterfall. The effort is equal with the best panorama ever! 👍

After a 20 minutes walk down... sometimes a bit steep but not too difficult...Waimarang Waterfall just pays back for the long drive and the short walk....what a stunning place...make sure you have lunch and drinks with you to enjoy the place for a few hours. Come early to be alone...just a couple tourists a day and mostly locals come for a refreshing swim.
Most beautiful waterfall I have seen in Indonesia so fare.
