About
200 acres of scenic parkland, foreshore and woodland overlooking Southampton Water. There’s plenty to do for the whole family: adventure play areas, cafe, miniature railway, events programme, BBQs for hire and much more. The Park is the site of a former military hospital. All that remains is the central chapel (housing an exhibition of the site’s history – closed for refurbishment until mid 2018) and a few other outlying buildings.

Little to see or do, expensive parking, no maps, for people with children only
Aug 2021 • Couples
There are no maps on site and the website is not mobile friendly so easy to walk out of the park and then have no idea how to get back (several threatening signs from the police though). Very little walking to be done. Commonwealth War Graves were well maintained and interesting to look at. The scarce information about the hospital was very interesting. The Chapel might be worth a visit but it's not open on a Monday (or Tuesday depending on which part of the website you review). Aimed entirely at young children, it's basically just 2 big play areas with expensive parking. No signage about the railway so no idea how much it is or how often it runs

Great green space close to Southampton

Beautiful park by the Solent. Decent playground area for young kids. The miniature railway was a hit with young and old visitors and fairly priced. Will visit park again for sure

Great place but vert expensive parking
Aug 2021 • Family
Great place with large green fields, a local cafe and a mini-train but very expensive parking which will discourage me to go again.

A pretty park, will be better when the building work is complete. Shingle beach not easy to access and at average.
Parking fees are a total rip off for young families, a shame as we are encouraged to take our children outdoors but not every one can afford the over priced parking

Wide open space, extortionate parking
Jul 2021 • Family
A lovely, wide open space with a gorgeous view of Southampton water. Parking is outrageous unfortunately (£5 for 2 hours). Cafe is nice, coffee is average, they stock vegan cake.

Something for everyone
Jul 2021
Enormous outside space for picnics, dog walking, exercise. Plenty of room for everyone. Good children’s activities

The only remaining accessible building Is the Chapel which houses a very interesting display of the medical history of the main building that has been demolished.

A short walk through the woods to the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetary. Some parts of this were better looked after than others.

Toilets and cafe. Access to the beach

You need to make a note of your time of arrival as the machine will ask you when you go to pay before leaving

Dont take your dog here, my 5 month puppy was attacked by another dog here today, I've only gone back there today after he was attacked last month by another dog. Needless to say I won't be going there again. I live in netley

Why allow cars to drive through?
Jun 2021
I recently visited Royal Victoria Country park with a friend when house hunting and loved it thinking it was a lovely park to bring dogs and kids but I was really shocked to find vehicles allowed to free access through it with no speed limits.

Dangerous is the only word that describes it.

I think the council should re-think it and permit parking at the entrances only and not scattered throughout the park.

Other than that though it is a lovely park to visit.

Lovely to be outdoors in such a beautiful space
May 2021 • Family
Visited with friends over half term and really enjoyed being out, wandering around in the sun, eating ice cream and watching the kids on the bouncy castles. After months of being indoors, this was a very welcome change and there is everything you need there. The toilets could do with being cleaner and better stocked with loo roll but isn’t that always the case?! Beautiful location, easy to park, things to keep the kids entertained - this place has it all.
