Pleasant stop on journey

Pleasant stop for an hour. Fascinating to see wasabi growing. Not really a day out, but worth the trip.

After a 5 mins walk from the carpark (beware, steps!), you will arrive Joren waterfall. The waterfall itself quite beautiful and it’s also a Geopark. There are beautiful wasabi fields next to the fall as they are connected to the river next to it. You can purchase fresh wasabi and other wasabi products in small shop close to the fall... More

As someone who enjoys mythology and folklore, it was a must to take a detour from Tokyo to the Shizuoka prefecture to visit the birthplace of Japan's yokai legend: the Jorogumo (binding bride). Here is a description of the legend courtesy of Wikipedia: "The Edo period legend has it that a beautiful woman would entice a man into a quiet... More

Pretty decent waterfall about 15 minutes by car from Shuzenji. There are also buses that travel between the coast and Shuzenji stopping here if you use public transport. Free admission, free parking, short walk--good enough for a brief visit for those who are in the area.

A fun short trip if you're already in the Yugashima-Amagi area, Joren Waterfalls is a short, fun hike. In summer, it's a refreshing stop as the falls treat visitors to a thin, cooling sprays of water. Be sure and sample the fresh grilled fish caught there at the falls, or sakura mochi.

Just a short walk from the car park to the waterfall. It is on the tourist coach route so tricky to enjoy by yourself. The walk by the river seems reserved for those who have paid to fish.

The waterfall is a nice place to visit if you're in the area. There are wasabi fields right next to it. Wasabi ice is a must have.

The waterfall is beautiful and unique since there are basalt columns right by it, but you can't get very close nor can you dip in the water, so just for taking pics from afar. The waterfall is a short walk down some steps. We tried the fresh grated wasabi ice-cream from the stall right next to the waterfall, it was... More
