You can leave your bags in the Tilicho base camp. And get ready to wake up in the early morning at about 4 a.m. The hike is straight uphill so get your pace slow and move conserving your breath. You will be at an altitude of 5000 so get your self a warm water carried with you and garlic as a natural remedy for altitude sickness. If you did it ok and you are healthy, you can conquer the Thorong la pass.

I visited the Tilicho Lake side trail with a friend in April 2018 over 3 days.
The lake itself was completely frozen over at this time of year, however the snowcapped mountains along the way where probably at their most majestic along this section.
The terrain itself was tough in parts, particularly on the way to the basecamp as you mist traverse scree through landslide prone areas.
The accent of 800m upto a touch over 5000m from the base camp to the Tilicho Lake look out is of course very taxing, with many steep switchbacks before the top. However the view and sense of accomplishment more than makes the effort worth the climb.
My YouTube channel 'Intrepid Road' has two detailed videos on the trail to give you an idea of what to expect.

Taking the time to visit the worlds highest lake is well worth the time and energy. The views alone are worth the side trek. Although the trek up to the lake isn't too difficult I will say that, well, It wasn't exactly easy either. It snowed the whole night before , so the route up the mountain was extremely slick, wet, and cold, but i would do it all over again if I had to.
A few tips:
1. Make sure to remember to put sunblock on. We left at 0500 and the sun had not risen yet and we totally forgot to put some on, nor did we bring any with us. since it had snowed the whole night before our faces got fried at the top.
2. If you do not have a guide make sure to get to TBC as early as possible because there wasn't any rooms available by the time we got there and we had to sleep in a supply room. WE HAD GUIDES TOO.
3. Drees for the occasion. We saw several trekkers in non-hiking gear and they were hurting and wet back at TBC.

Tilicho lake was always in my bucket list. Finally was lucky enough to see its beauty during my Annupurna circuit trek. The lake is simply amazing and claimed to be highest lake in the world with a level of 4919 meters high from sea level. Its it just a 2-3 days trek from Manang village which includes some of the most thrilling trails.
Would highly recommend everyone visiting Manang or doing Annapurna circuit. This route is a must and if you are tight of time, would recommend to end the circuit at Jomsum BUT highly recommend to include Tilicho Lake. Am sure you won't regret !!
Good luck and have fun.

Do this. Take the extra time to take the trip to Tilicho Lake - It will be the most difficult part of your trek but the views are amazing.

This place is one of the hilight on this (ACC) Annapurna Circuit trek. It's quite hard to reach there cause it's quite far away from Basecamp and you need to start trekking in the early morning and try to reach there very soon cause of windy situation. And you have to walk through landslide area that looks danger if there were rock falling. But I got lucky didn't see any rock falling that time (Sept-Oct) hahaha... But the scenery is fantastic. You will get more impress and unforgettable trip. BELIEVE ME.. :-)

Visited as a 'side trip' during the Annapurna circuit trek, I can confirm that it well worth the detour.
While the lake was still frozen, it was a completely white paradise with brilliant sunshine!

I hope to visit Tilicho Lake in its bluest form. Would June or November be a better time? Is it likely to still be frozen in June?
Written 28 April 2019

I would like to visit, Muktinath, Kagbeni and other nearest spot with Family traveling from Pokhara can you suggest the route and expenses to be carried and hotel charges
Written 17 April 2019
Thank you for your considering me about visiting muktinath temple and Kagbani Yes there is very nice With the upgrading of the path to Jomsom (Dzongsam) into a road, growing numbers of travellers are heading north into the mountains to savour the views and clean mountain air. As well as offering a shortcut to explore mountain villages such as Tatopani and Muktinath, which used to take days of trekking to reach, the road opens up opportunities to several trailheads and about hotel and other things please try to contact though email.
Thanku

How can we reach to tilicho from manang
Written 24 November 2018
If you leave Manang on the main trekking route, you will come across a sign that says 'Tilicho Lake' within 10mins. From here you head West and can choose to stop at Upper Khangsar, Shree Kharka or Tilicho Base Camp (depending on your fitness level and how many days you wish to walk the side trek)
What I would advise:
Day 1. Manang to Tilicho Base Camp (leave early)
Day 2. Tilicho Base Camp to Tilicho Lake and then back to Tilicho Base Camp.
Day 3. Tilicho Base Camp to Yak Kharka (you can take a shortcut through Upper Khangsar and don't have to return through Manang. The shortcut has a lot of signage and is very easy to find)
Check out my you YouTube channel 'Intrepid Road', it has a detailed guide for all you need to know.
Good Luck,
Marty.

How much far tilicho lake from manang ?
Written 12 October 2018
Apologies. It's 14km to Tilicho Base Camp. It's 19km to Tilicho Lake from Manang.
Written 12 October 2018
Hi, sounds like it's worth visiting. The lake is at 5200m. Is the hike as tough as the Thorong La pass? If not, is it a good way to acclimatize before taking the pass, or is it worse because of all the time at that altitude?
