Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I find it funny how many people miss this, even it's in the old town. Besides, you can see it from the train station.
Anyway, it's best to book a visit on the website/Facebook since there are guides available but they're not on site all the time.
Please do this so you can visit the inside which is woooow! There are so many details to notice: the wooden benches and the way the first row one open, the motifs on the blu ceiling, the metal railing, the...cat that seems to be your unofficial guide. Plus, it's a great way to find out about all the activities that take place at the synagogue (nope, not abandoned, sorry to tell you that. )

This place is a treasure. I think that the beauty of this place is also given by the old look without any new facade.
It’s really interesting that you can see the time that passed on this building and a bunch of beautiful people are making efforts to give life to this place.

A very beautiful synagogue that was built in 1896 when the Jewish Community was important in Medias. The synagogue is today under restoration but the people in charge of it need funds and volunteers to help.

Medias' 1896 (Ashkenazi) Synagogue is a must see, extremely important Jewish religious and cultural site. It badly needs to be restored (as the Brasov Synagogue has been) and the fact that people with the money to carry out the work haven't yet taken care of this & funded this project is simply wrong & tragic. With everything that Romanian Jews experienced in WWII, these reminders of Romania's flourishing Jewish past are priceless in their importance. This synagogue ought to be a key visitors spot for tourists to Transylvania, but it won't meet that potential until its restoration is carried out.

The place was closed when I arrived on a Friday morning.
It looks like the place is abandoned and closed all of the time. Broken windows and surrounding is not being treated

The place is open on Sundays. The synagogue is more than one hundred years old and was abandoned in last decades. Time left its trace on the inside but still it is a beautiful place, with unique wall paintings, old banks and many fascinating ornaments. We met a friendly man there who opened the door for us and told a lot about the history of the place and the town (fluent English). If I remember well, there is no fee for entrance, just a voluntary donation for synagogue restoration. Really worth visiting!

After this, she oraganise concerts, and now she has a lot of activities: concerts, meetings, ebraic language courses, Great job! This is a different palce right now. Easy to find as it is very near the city center, but in the state that it is in, it is not worth visiting as it looks like it is abandoned and it is degraded.
