- 900BruceLondon, United Kingdom63 contributionsBest Ice CreamFound by chance during a very short trip to Stonehaven beach - the queue was out the door, which is always a good sign. Wonderful ice creams with LOADS of toppings! Definitely have one if you are visiting the beach.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 April 2024
- msgoldenhaIrSydney, Australia282 contributionsAmazing and a must visit! Was recommended to us by a few locals and we weren’t disappointed! Yummy flavours; great variety; the toppings are cool and the staff are so friendly and proud of their store. And I love that they were happy to do two half scoops… I find it hard to eat two scoops but most ice cream vendors only let you choose one flavour if buying one scoop. Really smart and customer friendly. Do yourself a favour and don’t miss it if you’re in the area.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 May 2024
- Ben H21 contributionsGot more than I expected! You might say £4 for one scoop is a bit pricey, however the scoop is GENEROUS and comes with complimentary toppings which were also more generous than expected. Staff were very friendly and happy to served with a smile. No queue when we visited, sat outside for a bit and a queue formed, but was quickly resolved; I think that was mainly everyone just trying to work out what flavours and toppings they wanted! Maybe make it more visible from the outside to speed it up.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 July 2024

- Hugh RAberdeen, United Kingdom7 contributionsHigh Standard indeedVisiting from Australia and this is our favourite ice cream shop in this area. Excellent quality, good size and value for money. Give 9.5 out if 10. Are you listening pavilion cafe in Aberdeen who struggle to get 0.5 out of 10. Aunt Betty is a gem of a place and the pride of Stonehaven. The only negative and nothing to do with cafe is the forced hop scotch you do to miss the dog poo in walk from cafe to Stonehaven. Come on dog walkers this is disgusting.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 19 August 2024

Firstly I would just like to state that the one star review is purely based on pricing which I will go in to!
The staff are polite and work to a high standard, the owner herself is nice, a wee bit loopy but it absolutely adds to the place, and the place is really quirky looking and the location is perfect.
However.......
THE PRICES! What the hell! A 3 scoop cone is £7.50! Enough said!
I don’t care how many purple haired, red Dr Martins wearing vegan hippies you are trying to please or how many tourists you are trying to rip off, the prices are an absolute farce, almost laughable unless you were a single mother of three kids who are screaming for an ice cream I suppose!
There is just no way that the prices are in any way a fair representation of the price of ice cream. If an in depth cost analysis was to be carried out I think the mark up per cone would Be staggering, like £6.50.
Folks, although there is a bit of novelty to the place, there is a new ice cream place opened Next to the carron chip shop in the centre of town and also Guillanotties, a true Stonehaven business which has stood, selling ice creams for over 30 years. Both are excellently priced.

Hi Hi, we have noted your posts. Very unfortunately for us all since relaunching aunty bettys each and everyone of our suppliers has increased their costs, which of course has to reflect on our pricing, bins insurance utilities have all had to be paid for, just like your personal use for the last few months without an income, while the staff receive furlough.
All of Auntys staff deserve and receive above minimum wage, regardless of age. We all work as a team. we have used compostable packaging for several years now which as you may not know is twice the price of plastics, our stock has been completely replaced.
Like your own personal costs have increased as Scotland restarts unfortunately for us too, each part of our daily running costs have increased leaving us with no choice to secure our viability over the coming winter.
I truly have no objections to you arranging a time where I may show you our cost prices for a cone, flake , toppings, our vat, wages and the mark-up which is below the normal suggested mark up on our ice cream cones. At aunty bettys our particular ice cream is not cheap, it is an expensive ice cream to make, but this is the ice cream, waffle cones and high-end toppings we wish to offer our customers.
For me I truly appreciate your view, absolutely we are not an every day ice cream cone we think of ourselves as a special treat. Luckily next door has ice cream at £3 a cone and throughout Stonehaven there are numerous ice cream shops less expensive as us. We are delighted Stonehaven offers everyday ice cream and now and then you can choose to visit us, if you wish, for that special treat.
Do not hesitate to arrange a time should you wish to go over our pricing in a little more detail.
Thank you for messaging me, I am Lesley duff owner of aunty bettys my husband and I are organizing the pavement to help our fabulous staff work as quickly as possible, therefore you probably already have met me. I do hope you sort of understand why our ice cream cones are a treat, And P,S yesterday we immediately reduced our prices to reflect the VAT reduction from 20% to 5% which has reduced our cone from £ 4.50 to £4. You may like to check if other businesses have followed likewise

Called in for a treat of two cones yesterday and was nearly floored when they charged me £11! These are extortionate prices bearing in mind that so many people have recently lost their jobs amid the Covid crisis.
It’s a lovely wee shop and the staff are always polite however these prices will result in customers going elsewhere. We did wonder why the queue was so small when we pulled up, this would explain it. Please review your prices if you wish to retain your customers.

Absolutely terrible . Bland ice cream since changeover, huge queues but only caused by two guys behind counter who were like Laurel and Hardy totally disorganised.
Ice cream used to be fab, its pretty tasteless now and at £4 for one vegan scoop for a baby (dairy allergy) and it tasted awful. Even 18mth old didnt like it.
If you are going to charge premium prices at least serve premium product. Been coming here years but its declined in recent times - cant say as much for prices. Shops lost its charm. Its a tourist trap now nothing more. Cheap bland ice cream with annoyingly low flowers hitting you in head (?!?) All over shop.
If management are ready its way past time to lower prices for what you are now serving.
Take your custom to Baskin Robbins in Aberdeen folks. Original and best.

This used to be THE place to get ice cream on a nice day out, it was notorious for having a queue but it was all worth it because the ice cream tasted amazing. Please skip it and get some ice cream further in town and just walk to the beach, it will be quicker than waiting in that queue, just to be let down massively.
The ice cream has a different taste and texture, and the flavours are just bland. The scoops are large, but for the amount I paid (£11 for two ice creams) I wanted it to taste nice.
Try ‘forest farm’ dairy near Dyce, which is an absolutely incredible spot.

We decided to visit here because we were already in stonehaven and I have seen countless videos on social media about this ice cream shop. There was a massive queue and it took us around 30 minutes of waiting just to get two scoops of ice cream. The ice cream itself was good but it’s just not worth the wait. A single scoop is £4 and 2 scoops is £5.50 and the toppings are free which is appreciated. Give it a go if you have free time in stonehaven.

When you say you are open at 10am, you should be open at 10am. A few minutes late is okay, but 30-40 min late opening is not. The owners should be disappointed in the employees. Coming out to say you have things to do before opening yet is a poor excuse. You are a customer based business and had a customer ready at the listed opening time. Poor showing.

There are lots of options of ice cream flavours to choose from. The queues were very long and staff seemed a bit disorganised. The ice cream was lovely but expensive compared to other ice cream shops in the area.
