Part of the Golden Circle. If you are going in winter then wrap up warm, as the wind chill can make it uncomfortable. You could see everybody walking back with red faces! The waterfall itself was incredible and beautiful especially in winter. It wasn't too...More

I was not expecting this to be so moving. The day was blowing a gale, overcast and cold, so I trudged down the walkway to the viewing area. Wow! Words will not explain. See it for yourself. The facilities are a bit yum, and because...More

If you are doing the Golden Circle then Gullfoss will be one of your stops. It is about a 10-15 min drive beyond Geysir. Massive waterfall with an upper and lower viewing area...there are steps to go between them but since we were there in...More

The falls themselves a great. Very powerful, huge, with multiple "level" of falls. However, you can't get close to them, as everything is gated off. You feel like mindless cattle being fenced in with 100s of loud tourists. There was nothing intimate about this place;...More

I can say without exaggeration that Gulfoss is the most breathtakingly beautiful natural phenomenon I've ever laid eyes on! A huge three-level waterfall emptying into a deep valley, the mist and spray casting rainbows across a backdrop of beautiful ice formations on the valley sides...More

The views are well worth the trip. We drove rather than having a tour. There is no admission fee and plenty of parking. From the parking lot there is a wooden walkway and stairs to get to the viewing stations. The walkways are covered with...More

Visited here as one of our stops on the golden circle in early April. It was snowy and cold (so we didnt see the famous rainbow) and the trail down closer to the fall was closed due to ice. The walk to the waterfall from...More

This is by far the largest waterfall in Iceland I saw on my tours, and it is really majestic. Views are beautiful... parts of it were frozen in February but still it was magnificent. Strong winds!!!

We were hiking a lot in the area of gullfoss and in the afternoon we went to the waterfalls. Very beautiful ones. But a lot of tourists overthere. I prefer more hidden waterfalls. But when you're there take time to vist them. It's very nice.

We were on the Golden Circle EXPRESS tour which gave us 45 minutes there in very extreme weather. If the weather had been clear, we'd have wanted longer (not least to walk down the route that was closed on the day we were... More
