If you at all question the extra drive on the golden circle tour, don't. Make the drive and see Gullfoss. It is spectacular. Bring rain gear so you can get close and see.

They have sidewalks, handrails, and stairs to easily walk right next to the waterfall. It is thunderously loud and massive. Very beautiful and worth seeing. There were a lot of people there, which is a bit of a bummer. The mist from the falls was...More

This was a very good waterfall with excellent facilites. It was busy as we visited during the afternoon but still well worth the visit! We drove the golden tour so this was a stop on the way round.

We have been fortunate to see many beautiful waterfalls around the world and Gullfoss is just as breathtaking. While the day was cloudy, it was clear and we were able to get some wonderful photos. Yes it's crowded, but a bit of patience pays off....More

This is by far the most beautiful waterfall I've ever seen. If you go on a sunny day there will be an amazing rainbow across the fall. Rent a car, go on a tour, either way it is a must see. Absolutely stunning. You can...More

Who knows. Maybe. So many beauties to choose from, including much less powerful ones than this. Anyway, we arrived in the afternoon and it was pandemonium, as you would expect, incredibly busy, and the weather was miserable (also pretty likely). However, if you can, stay...More

This water fall was pretty impressive, and yes there are lots of tourist here so getting a picture without people in it will be difficult but it can be done. The mist from the waterfall travels a long way, but it was pouring raining and...More

We have only seen the falls in Yosemite, and this one definitely impressed more. A bit crowded because it's so easy to access, but fun nonetheless. If you're not interested in taking in the upper view, I would recommend parking at the lower lot.

Lots of mist and water spraying up, especially if you walk out to the center viewpoint. But the falls are enormous!

How far are the is gulfoss from the reykjavik airport? We arrive at 2pm and then are staying north west but wondering if it is worth driving to see the falls and have a cup of lamb stew and then driving up? What time does it close in mid July? Thanks!

Where are you staying? In which town? The Golden Circle is a must-see and it certainly is worth a detour.

We were on the Golden Circle EXPRESS tour which gave us 45 minutes there in very extreme weather. If the weather had been clear, we'd have wanted longer (not least to walk down the route that was closed on the day we were... More
