We love this place! We have visited many times in the past but not for a while.
The family are passionate and knowledgeable about their horses. You can meet and feed all the horses and listen to talks about them. There are lots of other rescue animals to meet also. There are always extra attractions on offer for a cost as well as play areas, funfair rides, carriage and tractor rides included in the price.
The cafe provides refreshments for humans and well behaved dogs are welcome.
This place is so important in ensuring that the heavy breeds do not die out so please visit! We love all the horses as they are all unique and full of character!

Learnt a lot about heavy horses from our day out at the Heavy Horse Centre. Would highly recommend a visit. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff involving visitors with the horses. Lovely to be encouraged to touch and feed the horses rather than just be allowed to look at them. A very enjoyable day out.

Why oh why haven’t I been here before?! My husband and I went as a couple, without the grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed the horses, learning about their history and were really impressed with the thought gone into all the activities and facilities.
We can’t wait to bring the grandchildren in the spring, to have an excuse to go on the vintage funfair, watch them in the rustic ‘soft play’ and pet the pets.

Our walking group stopped off here for a few hours on our way home -what an inspired choice. A completely fabulous set up -gorgeous creatures extremely well-cared for, lots of information humorously delivered with fine showmanship. All animals very accessible-only a few children here today but would make for a fantastic family outing. Highly recommended.

This is a dog friendly activity. That has so much to offer. Tractor rides. Horse and cart rides. This has got to have been the highlight of my week. I choose here as my husband loves horses. But it turned out to be so much more. The war horse trenches set up were amazing and offered the grim insite into what the poor horses faced. It shows the work going on to make sure certain breeds do not become extinct. Every horse there was so humanely treated. It really made my whole trip. A wonderful venue for ages 0-100. There’s something for everyone. The children’s play was literally superb. Best I’ve seen in a very long time. I would say ic in this area for a break or a local. Visit and support this unique charity. It’s incredible the work they do.

Cracking day out. Informative and amusing welcome session, being introduced to all the horses. Learnt more about the history and social impact here than any other centre visited previously. Plenty to see and do,(especially for children),and a full day's itinerary. Smokey Joe's cafe well worth a visit too. All the staff very welcoming and very knowledgeable.

We had a great day out with our family of all ages (eldest 67, youngest 8 months) and loved every minute of it. It rained for most of our visit but that didn't matter at all - the staff were so passionate and knowledgeable and made the trip really special for us. Needless to say, the horses were magnificent and we loved getting to know them. We loved the wagon rides, coffee and cakes, play area, 'gypsy' vardos and petting zoo - it was all just brilliant and so much fun. Access was great - we had a buggy and all the paths were solid and easy to traverse - with the odd puddle for good measure! Definitely visit if you're in the area! You could spend a whole day there if you wanted, there is so much to see and plenty of spaces to sit back, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Loved it!

What a fabulous day out! Despite the weather we all had a wonderful time. The kids enjoyed learning about the horses, feeding them, grooming plus carriage and tractor rides, playground and giant rabbits. The adults enjoyed all of this plus the fascinating talks from the owner who was passionate and knowledgable about the horses, their history and culture surrounding them. The whole site was nicely compact and we had good food in the cosy cafe. We really hope the farm continues and deserves support as a rare refuge for the heavy horse - long may it last!

A great day out, very relaxing.
We went as a couple when the older kids were back to school, the site was very relaxed, but a full days of activities, delivered with humour and expert knowledge.
We loved the experience and really enjoyed being able to stroke the Horses.
In our opinion, this is one of the finest experiences in Dorset and well worth a days visit.

Why doesn't the website state more clearly that the October hours are weekends + thursday /Friday only?
wasted hour and a half drive to get here and find it closed.
There is a "news" section on the website - why not announce the reduced hours, instead of pages and pages about the DAILY rides and program? Very unprofessional.

The farm parks opening hours / days are stated on ALL of our literature including: Leaflets, our website, google & Facebook.
In relation to your review I do not appreciate your abusive and insulting comments towards our website design company who have worked alongside us for many years.
My son needs 1-1 support and has a support worker with him for any trips. Is the carer admission free? All other local attractions permit one carer free with proof of disability. Does this venue have the same policy? I can't afford to pay another adult entry fee when already paying for the support worker's hourly rate. Thanks in advance. I tried phoning but got a prerecorded message each time.

Hello, unfortunately we do not allow careers in free of charge, due to the running cost we just simply couldn't afford to do this. Many other local attractions are the same. We are happy to supply receipts so if you are a registered carer you are able to claim towards costs which I believe many carers that visit us do do.
I hope this answers your question.

How old/talk do children need to be to ride a pony?
JoanneS76
Verwood, UK2 contributions
Pony riding is for children age 4 and over, this is to comply with health and safety regulations however younger ones won't miss out!.. A miniature pony and carriage ride is welcome to all smaller children. I hope this helps!

How can I get here using public transport?

Hi, I'm sorry if this comes a bit late but I've had a look. I don't know where you would be going from, but I had a look at buses from Ringwood and there are options. It would take about 45 mins. They leave from Meeting House lane (Stand D) in the town centre. If you are leaving from Poole or Bournemouth, I would recommend calling the local bus firms.
Hope that helps
Is it open during the week?
Kimsy1724
Weymouth, UK112 contributions
They are open from 25 March to 29 October then they close for the winter season to rest to the horses.
We visited during the week and we had a great time and I think it's well worth a visit x
