The Kolomna Pastila Museum (‘History with Taste’) is a unique museum that presents a rather ephemeral and elusive part of our intangible heritage: tastes, aromas, the culture of everyday life, a way of speaking… The subject of this museum is the lost-but-rediscovered taste of the apple sweetmeat Kolomna Pastila, which is known and loved across the whole of Russia. Here we’ll treat you to this old Russian delicacy and tell you about some of the local legends, traditions and habits bound up with it. You’ll hear real stories from the lives of admirers of Kolomna pastila – from simple folk to tsars and tsarinas and Russian men of genius. Come and sample a taste of history!

Worth a stop if you are in Kolomna, but not a huge flashy attraction. The marshmallow is famous locally although quite specific (not like American marshmallows, more like Turkish delight - vanilla is the best). Not much info in English so bring translation and some...More
