Well worth several visits

A great attraction and a good way to see Artic animals in near natural surroundings. Takes about 2 hours to get around.

It is worthwhile to stop at the Ranua zoo. The zoo is organized very nicely, easy to walk, see the arctic unique animals and have a warm hot chocolate inside an igloo (a nice experience on its own)

The animals are amazing and well fed and looked after. It takes a good few hours to look around and i would imagine it lovely in the summer but was still good with snow on the ground.

Ranua wild life park gives a unique experience to view arctic animals in a natural environment. The 2.5km path that leads you through the park is a lovely experience in itself. We borrowed a toboggan for our 3 year-old and stopped for a hot drink half way through the walk at an igloo ice bar. The highlights of the park... More

I've been to several safaris and zoos all over the world but Ranua wasn't as impressive as I'd thought it would be. We visited it in the month of December and hardly spotted any animals as they were all under their shelters trying to keep themselves warm or some hibernating like the bears. The ones we did manage to spot... More

This zoo doesn't have a lot of animals - only 50 or so local species. The uniqueness is that they live in their natural habitat in very spacious enclosures. The visitors walk on a ~3km long wooden walkway that passes near or above the animals enclosures. So you really get the feeling about the Lapland nature.

Overall our visit was great! We enjoyed it very much - a nice walk in the snowy woods, a lot of animals were realy close and somehow evrything seemed so natural - not like zoo at all. May be a morning visit would give a bit more activities from some animals, but still we had a great time. Except one... More

The zoo is laid out beautifully, taking you on a walk through a winter wonderland, retaining most of the forest that was originally here. There are walkways throughout and signage is good. The mix of animals is made up of northern species, so if you are visiting in the winter you can see polar bears in snow, and so on,... More

we stayed at the adjoining Gulo Gulo resort, which was excellent, we also did the " meet the Polar bear" activity, which involved feeding the polar bear and Artic foxes had a great time walking the snowy park, While the sleds seem like a nice idea, they really ruin the experience for others, as they are noisy and contribute to making... I went to the zoo in winter. What a magical place, so many birds. Some of the larger animals are in hibernation during winter so not able to see them, but still worth the trip.
