    No tigers!
Lovely zoo, great space for the animals ranging from polecats to polar bear! The birds of prey were pretty amazing. Took a good 3 hours to really appreciate all the residents. Only one thing - follow the signs to the tiger park - it's a kids playground lol, searching for non-existent tigers apparently happens quite often

    Worth a visit
An enjoyable visit. The park consists of well cleared walkways that wind around the different animal enclosures. We saw almost all of the artic animals, polar bear, brown bear, wolves, reindeer to name a few and their enclosures are large and the animals have space to roam around in them. It took about 3 hours to walk around and there is cafe and a small shop after this. Definitely worth a visit.

    Excellent Zoo Experience
All up we had about 2 hours walking the three kilometre circuit, on our way from Rovaniemi to Ivalo. I could easily have spent double that time looking at the unique Arctic birdlife and animal life on display. There are about 50 different species living in their natural habitat with enclosures quite large to try to replicate their wild habitat. This meant that we didn’t see some animals like the lynx and the brown bear was quite distant, but we did get a good look at the collection of owls, polar bear, wolves, arctic foxes, moose and musk ox. Excellent!!!

    Find the Polar Bear
This zoo is exceptionally well thought out and constructed. The animal enclosures are just that: enclosures—not small pens or cages. The walkways are above ground and easy to get around. Because the enclosures are so large, it is a challenge to find the animal. In the case of Polar Bears, we could not find them. They were hiding.

    Great Arctic zoo
We drove put for the day from Rovaniemi, was an awesome drive along snow lined roads but there were some expensive bus day tours available. The online booking saved money for us on entry as did driving ourselves. Unfortunately the bears were resting, probably due to there being ice, snow, fog and a minus 2 temperature for the day. Coming from a warm, southern hemisphere country this was a great chance to see Arctic animals in their frozen environment. Was well worth the trip and hopefully you see the bears.

Worth a vist while in Lapland
Well run Zoo, route was easy to follow with plenty to see. Apart from the Polar bears we got to see all the other animals, worth the hour bus ride from Rovaniemi, restaurant on site, takes about 2-3 hours so plan your journey based on that. No need for an expensive tour, bus from town does not stop anywhere else so us quick and through lovely landscape.

    Great day out.
Had an amazing day walking around the Zoo… I really liked its planned out into a loop and not retracing tracks… It was -19 so alot of the animals were tucked away.. but we got to see the main ones. If you go here you have to accept your not going to see all the animals .. I thought it was reasonably priced.

    Fun few hours!
We had a fun 2-3 hours at this Zoo. A lot of the animals could not be seen as they were hibernating, but it is a great Zoo to see some rare arctic animals you wouldn't find in your home country. The zoo is relatively small but is really fun if you are looking for something extra. The Wolves and the Lynx were our favourites.

The zoo had good collection of animals and were well looked after. Had a chance to chat with some keepers and you could sense their passion and commitment.

Ranu is about 1.5hrs from Rovaniemi and for me i didnt think it was worth the drive. Its a sanctuary which i love, the enclosures are a really good size but its subsequently hard to see the animals. I didnt see the Polar bear. The owls are amazing, the wolves, the wolverines all really good to see. I probably walked around in an hour. For me the long trek it wasnt worth it but if you are staying close by i'd definately go. Its in nice grounds, the merchandise in the shop was cheaper than anywhere else.

Walked around whole circuit about 3 kilometres on snow covered boardwalks mainly, they do grit them but they are up and down so some were a bit slippery.only animals we really saw were the owls which were stunning. Some arctic foxes, red foxes, reindeer, musk ox, moose, ducks, swans and geese.so a lot of effort for not a lot.winter probably not the best time to visit.

Lovely setting but not a zoo exactly. It was an optional that we hesitated on doing . There are some very different animals in there and the owls are lovely as are the Dholes but don't go early in the morning to avoid the crowds because you will not see all the animals, they are still busy waking up. We missed a few of them because of it. Maybe if it's hotter early it will be ok. Quite a nice walk around though but I think we could have also given it a miss if we had had another option.
