Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Santa Severa beach is really pretty and cosy, there are parasols and loungers to rent 10 from a beach bar, 10 euro total the staff doesn’t speak English well so expect some awkwardness. Most of the beach visitors are also locals but it has a lovely vibe. The side closer to the castle is a bit dirty as there are many sea plants and plastic floating in the water but if you like to swim away further it should not be an issue. If you like to take a photos it’s a good place to be. Also very close to the train station. Buy a return ticket as there are no ticket machines at Santa Severa station. I had to do it via an app and I was lucky I had internet.

I read catastrophic reviews, it seems an exaggeration.
The lidos are well organized and not too expensive, given the prices on the coast of Southern Rome, I frequent these areas recently, but I can say that I always find free parking, on the weekend, of course I go early honestly but it is very close to the beach.
The water is decent especially in the morning and is not far from Rome South, I Recommendation to try!

We arrive at the beach but not completely dirty from our residues, but especially seaweed from the sea, looking at the reviews we had already realized that it was not such a beautiful beach even if recommended by friends.
The crystal clear and clean water, in the morning , only to enter there was the smell of rotten egg but going forward the stench was no longer felt; in the afternoon on one side of the beach was full of algae but like the stench slowly were gone. In addition to this I would say very convenient, parking near the beach and 2 bars.
I would say that the beach is not very crowded as mentioned in other reviews. And finally I would say staff (lifeguards) very attentive to our safety

Beautiful Beach next to Castle! Quite except on Sundays, big, clean sandy beach. Nice place to rent umbrella and chairs. Beach bar and cafe. Only a ten minute walk from train station.

Awful experience....don’t trust parking
On our way from Tuscany to Rome, we wanted to stop for a good lunch. This restaurant had the best recommendations so we wanted to try it. Especially because you could park before the restaurant! BUT
We were not allowed to park close to the restaurant from an older park guard, but were however glad to be able to pay for a parking a little further. After having payed to two girls, we went for lunch. We got a table in the back, very hot, and Service was not totally friendly but okay. Food was however good. But after lunch we went back to the car...no PARKING GUARD anymore...no luggage anymore... NOTHING left...we went back to the restaurant. They were friendly offered us some water and called the police...police would come...but after some time they said that the police wouldn’t come...but the responsible of the car parking come..luckily my husband went to the police in the meantime....because the help of the restaurant never came!!!! Strange .....strange aswell that nobody in this busy place saw anything!!! How is it possible that two girls right in front of your restaurant ask money to park the car, without knowing them.....I’m sorry we feel and are robbed...so even if food is good I would not recommend the place....not only because you will get robbed but especially because they don’t help you!!!!!

We needed a break from busy city during our visit to Rome so we decided to take regional train to Santa Severa beach for day. Trentitalia does their boarding passes differently. You will need to know the train numbers because they aren’t noted on your boarding passes. Thank goodness, we had the pictures of the train numbers so we could board the right train to the beach. It took us about 1 hour to get to S. Severa station and then another 15 minutes walk to the beach.

The beach is very beautiful though there were many dried see grass on the beach. The castle situated on the beach made it stunning. We rented umbrellas and seats for a day which I highly recommend during the summer season. We would definitely be back there again.

Santa Severa in disarray, a total degradation. Scarce, crowded and dirty free beaches due to total neglect by the administration. The rest of the town ditto, dirty, total neglect, roads so rough that it is not even advisable to go there, few catering services. A havoc

Removing the parenthesis of the parking lot in a dirt yard without shade we move on to the sore notes. A beach like this I had never seen it looks like a third world slum. There is no room even for walking.
The news is that some bathers have “fenced with plastic walls their plane” (never seen such a thing) anyway I go to Fisherman’s Island (great prices) but people huddled like never before , tents left and right , sticky umbrellas , zero privacy and if I go to the sea to relax I want privacy here is totally non-existent to make it difficult even the presence of the radio sound stage under the castle whose speakers scream and scream as if nothing were without respect for anyone !! The sea is beautiful shallow shore spotless blue water with a few pebbles on the shore .. for such beauty of the water is stormed this location in a wild and unscrupulous way I hope you can do something to make it less crowded quieter and especially more relaxing because relaxing has nothing apart from low prices which is still a great thing.

Che gran peccato! We go from 10 years to severe. It (was) a delightful place ... clean quiet full of young elderly families ... Via dell’Olimpo with its market ... sometimes funfair at the castle ... show lights playfulness ... all the bikes around ... restaurants ... rotisserie pizzerias ... now ... all dark ... there is no lighting ... Via dell’Olimpo dark neglected ... empty like the rest of the country ... endless waits for the recovery of ‘garbage outside (which was already a nightmare but at least passed at dawn to the days united) ... the glass was a bit ‘a hassle poet at the bell of Piazza Pyrgi ... but now, removed even that .... really seems a seaside resort of the sixth world ... it seems that they are no longer given authorizations for anything::. what a bad will to destroy a pearl with so many managers give them establishments full of enthusiasm and desire to work and a sea that all in all given the proximity to Rome. it is more than acceptable: ..... change first citizen no? Boh...to you locals the sentence. I certainly will never spend 6000 euros on a house in July (before it was also a sacrifice but really well done! (what a shame.....

Yesterday, returning from holidays in Puglia, we decided to spend a few hours in Santa Severa near Rome where in the establishment (arriving at lunch time) we paid 30 euros for an umbrella and two sunbeds. The umbrellas did not respect the distances required by law (2.5 metres). They had added a row with umbrellas piled up next to each other (plus they sold us number 1 which however was already occupied). We were not even told about the spill of sewage into the water two days earlier. When we asked for explanations about the distances not respected they told us that we were unwanted people and they refunded us the cost incurred....
