Very busy

There is limited parking by the main road but I just managed to find a space. It’s then a walk of a few hundred yards along a well maintained path to the castle. It’s free to visit and sits on a hilly slope. As it had rained some of the paths in the area were quite slippery. On an August Saturday the castle was very busy with lots of families. The castle itself is fascinating being quite unlike the other squarer castles in North Wales. You can climb up to the top of the wall where there is a viewing area or walk down to the river below. There are also information boards to tell you about the history. I will definitely be going back but will wait until it’s a bit quieter

Lovely walk
Sep 2020
We were staying at the nearby Village hotel and parked in the lay-by on the main road then walked on the path between fields to the Castle.
The Castle is in ruins but you can climb up some steps if you're careful as they are uneven.
We had a picnic with us but there are no picnic benches near the castle, however there are a few once you get to the woodland area down the steps.
From there you can walk all the way to the Visitor centre of Wepre woods, where you can buy an ice cream.
It was very busy when we were there on a sunny Sunday but it was lovely to see so many children running around outside enjoying climbing and paddling instead of sitting inside on video games etc!

Pleasant Walk
Sep 2020
We parked on the main road of Ewloe (enough for about 12 cars) near the signpost Ewloe castle. The walk takes you along an enclosed footpath to the castle. Free entrance and plenty of space to have a picnic. After visiting the castle we took the steps/pathway down into Wepre park. A lovely walk

Magical
Feb 2020
Is there anything more magical and Brothers Grimm than a castle ruin hidden in the woods, mysterious, because no one knows why it was built there? It's well maintained and well worth a visit, especially since you can climb to the top to get a great view over the ruins. I wish people would respect it instead of leaving rubbish there, this is the downside of a site that isn't staffed, but it's still rather wonderful and has become my favourite Welsh castle. If you're passing on the road it's worth stopping and trekking across the field to get to it. Wear boots as it was very muddy when I was there.

Living History
Sep 2019
Had a very pleasant afternoon at Ewloe Castle. Take the walk to the ruins to glimpse a piece of living history. Great story behind the ruins.
