Eriswell Lodge opened its doors in April 2015, under the new ownership of Stuart & Nigel Smith. Since then extensive work has been completed to create a brilliant shooting facility, with a new 2-storey clubhouse currently being built which will have function rooms, a large café & a shop available. Eriswell Lodge offers a wide range of clay shooting disciplines. With 24 sporting stands, 4 skeet fields, 2 ABT fields, 3 DTL fields and a sportrap available there is plenty for shooters to use. Our reception area can be found in our on-site shop which stocks a range of country clothing and shooting accessories. We also stock cartridges from Hull Cartridge, Lyalvale Express, and Gamebore. We also have a cafe on site offering a wide range of hot & cold food & drinks. We offer have-a-go sessions for beginners, and tuition abilities and disciplines. Our fully qualified instructors will get you smashing clays in no time! We look forward to welcoming you to Eriswell Lodge soon!

I have been shooting roughly once a week with instructor Shaun since January and I thoroughly enjoy every lesson I have.

Both my shooting and confidence has improved significantly as a newbie to the sport thanks to Shaun.

I also recently joined The Country Girls UK for a tuition day based at Eriswell and had a great time, the tuition was great and hospitality provided by Eriswell was superb - they couldn’t do enough to make sure we all had a great day and everyone was catered for!

I’m looking forward to many more days shooting clays here!

Thank you

Thoroughly enjoy visiting Eriswell Lodge.

Shooting layout is great, no overcrowding anywhere.

What makes it even more special now is the new restaurant/club house. Whether you have Sunday lunch, breakfast or a cake and coffee it is always served with a smile and the food is good.

I would definitely recommend.

This weekend Eriswell Lodge Shooting Club held my daughter and son in law's wedding reception. The first event of its kind to be held at the Lodge.
From the moment of its first suggestion way back before the first lock down (thank you Covid) to the end of the reception evening. The Eriswell team applied the same zeal, professional enthusiasm and focused attention to detail that all the members of the club have grown accustomed to when shooting. I had not doubt that this would be the case and was not disappointed. A special thanks has to go to Stuart, Melissa, John and the Eriswell team of the evening, thank you all so much.

If you are organizing such an event, do consider Eriswell Lodge Shooting club as a venue you will not be disappointed.

C Carlyn.

I have been shooting for over 45 years. Eriswell is, by far, the best clay ground i have visited. Having recently completed a complete refurbishment of both the stands and the club house its a really nice place to spend the day shoot and eating. There is a new restaurant, which serves good food which is reasonably priced. It also has four novice stands for beginners. I travel regularly from Essex to visit. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Following a great day of instruction with Tosh my sons had a great experience.
Sadly our second visit was particularly disappointing. The reception staff were helpful. At our first trap stand my eldest son was shooting with eye protection and ear defenders.
Myself and younger son were sat at the picknick benches near the stand. We had only shot a hand full of clays when a staff member whose name we don’t have informed us that we all needed ear and eye protection.
In a condescending manner advised me not to leave my sons with ‘those guns’ if I were to go and get the required protection.
The staff members demeanour was rude unhelpful, and not necessary .
We had to pack our guns away just to get a pair of ear plugs and with that decided to leave . Ruining my sons birthday day out.

Hi Jamie, thank you for your comments. I will address them publicly now as this is the forum you have chosen to bring them to my attention. In terms of your sons having an enjoyable session with Tosh, that’s very good to hear - we are exceptionally pleased when people have a good time at Eriswell Lodge! Secondly, we advertise on all of our media and website that all shooters and spectators require both hearing and eye protection when in the shooting areas. We also have signage at every access point to a shooting area, as well as on each shooting position. The required use of safety equipment forms a part of the shooters agreement that all shooters now verbally agree to upon signing in for all members of the party, and this agreement is asked by the reception staff before any shooting commences. Our reception staff also ask each group of all members of the party have hearing and eye protection for their visit before they leave reception to start shooting. When shooting with Tosh you would all have been provided with the relevant safety equipment, and the requirements are the same when shooting without an instructor. Thirdly, it is a requirement of the firearms act that at no time shall an unlicensed person be left unattended with a shotgun or firearm. If this occurs at any point then the license holder is in fact breaking the law, and will almost certainly lose their shotgun license and firearm certificate (if applicable) should they be reported - which we all have a responsibility to do should we see it occur. Whilst I can only apologise if you feel you were spoken to in a condescending manner, I can at the same time assure you with absolute certainty that my staff member(s) are simply ensuring that all activities taking place at Eriswell Lodge are taking place in a safe and legal manner for all concerned. For future reference, I actively encourage discussion at the time rather than taking to the internet to bring comments to either my or my senior management teams attention, as this can all be avoided with a few words of face to face discussion. We take the safety and well-being of all our customers extremely seriously, and should this concern cause issue then I’m afraid we make no apology for it - we are a very safe sport, but only because we take safety so seriously. Please feel free to contact me at Eriswell Losge directly if you would like to discuss this further.

Being a novice at clay shooting this club was ideal for me. The staff were very helpful in setting me up with membership and procedures. The novice stands were well laid out and achievable for a person of my early ability.
They cafe is a gem, with lovely staff, good atmosphere and excellent menu. I now regularly attend the club and recommend a cooked breakfast before shooting.
A great time is always had by all, well worth a visit even if its just for a coffee and piece of homemade cake.

Took 2 friends for the 25 clay introduction/taster . We are all around or over 50years of age and either never shot or since teenagers. Very easy to find location wise opposite the USAF air base. Big site currently being massively upgraded with new main building and facilities. Saying that the existing shop and redemption whilst small are really nice and the staff super friendly and efficient. There is also a great little on site cafe for a nice brew before you head out to one of the shooting stands. We were allocated a really great instructor who made us feel really relaxed and kept us safe . We thought the session would be really short but it was 2hrs! For £35 each with a tutor and all equipment such good value. Our tutor took us through some theory , how to handle and hold the gun, body position etc. Nothi g was ever rushed and he really took time in helping us improve and correct things. Brilliant experience and we are already planny when to get back over

Tosh was our instructor and he was brilliant. I’d never shot before and I amazed myself how many clays I blasted. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Great value for money.

I first started shooting at Eriswell Lodge back in October 2018. SInce then it has become my go to local shooting ground. Whilst the new club house is being built, the facilities are limited, but the shop has some good kit in for beginners to shooting.

As for the stands, there are plenty to choose from. There are three skeet stands, as well as the high tower and driven game tower. I personally shoot English sporting, and there is a good variety of challenging targets, as well as easy targets to get your eye in, or practice if you are new to the sport. My only gripe on the stands is that, even though I maybe shoot here once a month, the stands do always seem to be very similar. I have the luxury of being able to shoot at different grounds around East Anglia quite regularly and I prefer other grounds for the change in layouts each time I go back.

The staff are great and very chatty, always happy to help and hear about how you got on shooting. Overall it is a good ground with good staff, certainly one of the best clay grounds in Suffolk.

I did a Ladies day here in February 2019, with Tosh as my instructor. This was only my second time shooting, and my First Ladies here.
The weather was horrendous but Tosh’s enthusiasm and passion for the sport, had me hooked; so much so I’ve since returned for more lessons with him, as well as ladies days (when it has to be said; I shoot worse if it’s not Tosh whose the groups instructor)

Last lesson with him; I’d totally lost my confidence and was struggling and told him so; so we went back to basics and got my brain back into it with some gentle teasing/banter from Tosh.

Tosh has a heart of gold, and a real passion and knowledge for the sport. He will always have your best interest at heart, and knows how to tease me out of a having a ‘I can’t do this’ moment.

Love Eriswell and the whole team; just a shame your so far away from me!
