Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First of all it had to happen that the steps were narrow and for those suffering from claustrophobia they are not at all suitable. You go up and down on the same side resulting in slipping. Whoever enters with the dog is an adventure and a miracle if you don't find yourself at the entrance without realizing it. Not suitable for those with mobility difficulties and for tall people (the head gets hit several times) unfortunately even if you are a little sturdy you risk getting messed up. Not to mention the bathroom: cramped, smelly and dirty.
To finish, usually those over 65 or 70 years of age receive reductions, no full price for a fortress that remained in the Middle Ages and a museum that also did not see the current era.

Well worth the walk. And worth climbing up to the top of the tower. Fabulous views from all sides across the valley. Very interesting.

Brisighella was such a lovely surprise for our stay. It's super photogenic with old people just walking around carrying cool canes and wearing fashionable hats. We spent a good amount of time just photographing the place and eating.

The castle is a nice walk up the side of the mountain and has a pretty remarkable view of the little town and its surrounding area. I love the clock tower on the other side which makes the whole thing seem more guarded and homely.

We never got a chance to go inside the castle, but the whole thing looked pretty cool and is highly recommended for a nice hour or so stroll of exploration.

The castle of Brisighella is considerable both in itself and because of its inclusion in the context of the surrounding area.
The castle dominates Brisighella, and can be reached by a scenic footpath that starts in the center of this small town. The entrance to the castle requires a ticket (not expensive, I don't remember the exact fare) and allows the visit of the beautiful interiors, as well a wide panorama.
In my opinion the best way to appreciate the castle is to include it in a ring of trekking which from Brisighella and from the castle climbs over, for an easy and well marked path, to the Visitor Center "Ca Carné" in the middle of an interesting area of karst rocks (you can visit a small natural history museum). From there you can walk around, then through a paved road (with little traffic) down to the village of Fognano, where you can take a train back to Brisighella (check the timetables before).
This ring can easily be organized traveling in a day by train also from Florence and Bologna (we did).

Locate above Brisighella one of the most beautiful villages we have visited. You can walk up either from the road or the steps and while toting you few rewarded with the views once there. Could do with some more sign in English. An amazing way experience and great exercise after a week of pasta.

From the center of Brisighella you can walk via the stair. Pleasant climb inside the small street then direct to the castle
Entrance is 3€ and give u access to the other museum in the center which is rubbish ! The castle gives you great view of the area and Inside is you can feel the history. Shame not all explanation are translated making understanding of the place more difficult
Note you can go by car to

The walk up to this castle for amazing Brisighella is a job on its own specially in a sunny day, but when you arrive it is worth the effort, very picturesque medieval castle but be aware it only opens on weekends.

Not for the weak, infirm or unfit, but take your time and the views are excellent. The old well, battlements and surrounding areas are worth it too.
There’s a charge of 3 Euro at the very top but the views of the little town and local vineyards are worth it

Take note that the castle opens at 10am and if you go early to climb the hill on a hot day to beat the heat, you will not be able to enter (as was the case for me). However, you can walk all around it and get treated to fantastic views which is the best part anyway. Definitely the best thing in Brisighella
