Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We did a hike to Mbeya Peak from the Iziwa village. It was one of the best hikes i‘ve ever done. Very beautiful landscape. We did the hike with a nice guide and got a lot of interesting informations about the area.
The contact number for getting the guide is +255752227220 (called James)

My partner and I walked up Mbeya Peak today. It was a lot more challenging than we believed based on the reviews below. It really is essential to have a guide as there is no clear path at the start or even heading up the peak. Also, there is no dalla dalla that goes to the start. We had originally planned to make our own way and get a guide there but there are no guides hanging around so we would have been stuck. We were lucky that our accommodation, Ifisi Community Centre put us in touch with Stanley (+255 755 742 324) who works at the zoo and speaks excellent English. He was on time in the morning at our accommodation and arranged a tuk tuk to take us to that start and bring us back. He arranged a local girl from the village to guide us up as the route changes based on conditions. The tuk tuk driver and his friend also walked up so it was a bit of a party. Do note that we had believed all transport costs were included in the quoted tour but they were not, so make sure you absolutely confirm everything in the price.
The walk up took 3 hrs at a fairly quick pace. It was a bit of a scramble on one part and we even had to climb over a makeshift fence. The descent took 2.5 hrs. The views are lovely going up and really worthwhile at the top. We were lucky not to have rain but you should definitely go prepared and wear good walking shoes as it is slippery.
Please note that the reviews below are mixed up and many refer to a neighbouring peak which has the crosses.
In summary, if you are in the area and are fit, definitely worth doing.
