Visited as part of a day excursion and we thoroughly fell for Kastro. Whether its the 360 degree views, games and ouzo at Kostas Bar, the quiet solitude, the remains, the renovation or the house of bones, I don't believe you cannot be impressed with...More

We visisted this small and pretty empty village on a hot afternoon. We travelled by Scooter which was pretty tough as two persons on a 80cc scooter do not have much of a pace going 1 KM uphill. The village looked pretty spectacular even if...More

We drove upto this gem from near limeneria one morning, parked a 100m from village and walked through it. We were welcomed by Kosta on the way in at the taverna ( he and his dog are the only permanent residents of the village) he...More

Don't visit Thassos without visiting this beautiful village. The views are amazing. Unfortunately we must have caught kostos on a bad day as we sat at a table for a good 10 minutes without him even acknowledging we were there. We decided against eating there...More

It's well worth taking the time to visit Kastro. The ruins of a Byzantine castle surround a mostly-deserted village presided over by Kostas and his friendly dog, Ben. His taverna is a great place to spend some time - and prices are reasonable! Don't miss...More

When you see the well-preserved homes, you feel disappointed because it's supposed to be a deserted village. But then, after exploring it a little more, you find out that there's one person actually living there - Kosta, who owns a tavern. The view is magnificent,...More

This is the 3rd time we visited this tinny small ancient village. Situated on the top of the mountain, in the middle of Thassos Island, this is a unique and peaceful place. Houses that are rebuild with ancient stones, dust roads, Church, taverna and 360...More

This is a small village in the mountains, accessible by car, a lot of old houses, some are being restored, very few people live there but a walk through the village offers a nice piece of history to admire.

I have visited Kastro on several occasions over the years and still find peace and tranquility there. It is an uninhabited village in the mountains of Thassos previously accessible by four wheel drive vehicles only but of late a tarmac road has made it accessible...More
