Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I cannot recommend this enough! Not only were our hosts genuine and friendly, but the sights were incredible. When we arrived my children loved meeting friendly lambs and sheep. There was also a wombat, an emu, alpacas and chooks.
The open topped cart ride was spectacular with beautiful skies and plenty of wildlife! I look forward to a time when I can visit again!

Went as part of a Murray Princess Cruise
The Sheep demo was entertaining and informative and the evening tour was incredible; frogmouths, grey, red and albino Roos and a wombat in his hole were the headlines.
The transport is in modern versions of horse carts and is itself part of the enjoyment.
David and his family are really welcoming and knowledgeable and I even got a cuddle from one of the sheepdogs!
Fully recommend

We did the night tour and saw lots of kangaroos including an albino roo which is very rare. The site has lots of other wildlife including wombats emus and spiders.Dave the owner escorted us in his night wagons which added to the excitement.
We also went for a bush breakfast which Dave, his wife and daughter cooked. It was a lovely 3 course meal, sausages, bacon, tomato, roo sausage then bbq toast with bush condiments and completed with a wattle seed pancake. Billy tea and a glass of champagne made a delightful meal. We did this as an optional tour on the 7 day Murray Princess trip and should not be missed.

We visited Big Bend as part of our package with Unforgettable houseboats, itself an excellent operation. Nothing is too much trouble for them, including travelling an hour or more up river to help when we ran aground. (Good idea to read the manual.) Anyway we had a dinner and breakfast at BB provided by Dave and his wife. Good food, great hospitality and very interesting guide to the area plus wild life park with kangaroos, wombats etc. A week on a houseboat from Unforgettable with dinner and breakfast at Big Bend makes a great holiday.

We were houseboating on the Murray and as part of the trip had three side trips - Bush Tucker Breakfast (on the bank of the river - excellent food - kangaroo sausage, bacon, eggs, pancakes, billy tea and champagne to start) - Outback pub crawl (van through the outback areas visiting pubs for a quick beer and an excellent lunch at Mt Mary pub) - Barossa half day (Yalumba Winery - very good - lunch and a stop at Anguston for some food shopping for the boat). Mardi was our driver/hostess - she's great - friendly, chatty, pointed out all the wildlife we missed and full of information about the region. If you're on the river or travelling nearby recommend this group - you'll thoroughly enjoy it - Thanks Mardi from us all

While on the Murray Princess we experienced the Woolshed Show and then, after dinner, the Nocturnal Tour! The woolshed show was so much fun and, on the tour, were lucky enough to be able to follow a wombat racing along the road to get to its hole!

We had the pleasure of Pat's company as we toured the Swan Reach area for a day tour discovering outback pubs. We were collected promptly at Walker Flat from our Houseboat. Pat was very informative about the area and the plight of the farmers and townsfolk as we traversed country dirt roads and sealed bitumen on our way to the first Pub in Sedan. A delightful establishment full of memorabilia of days past (dating back to the late 1800s). We then crossed country via sights of sheep grazing on different types sparse dried crops and grass, stopped to view wombat holes, saw emus bobbing around and plenty of Western Grey kangaroos to the Sutherlands Hotel where we enjoyed meeting the hosts in their beer garden (also dating back to the 1800s). The resident ghostly friends fabled didn't make an appearance. We then set out to the Mt Mary hotel to enjoy lunch of Saltbush Mutton Pie (delicious) followed by dessert before traveling around the area and being taken back to the Houseboat. The whole day gave us 'city slickers' a very good insight into parts of Australia and it's people who know what it is to struggle on farm land made redundant by lack of water. A real eye opener. Well worth the day spent.

Thanks for the good review and we are glad that Pat looked after you and managed to find her way back to the houseboat. Regards David
