Filled with 18th-century paintings and ornate rooms, this white and gold palace is surrounded by a 1400-acre park complete with fountains, bridges, the Agate Pavilion bathhouse and the Great Pond. Light and airy interior with gilding. Beautifully maintained. Spectacular palace that was a delight to visit. Nothing dingy, dark or gloomy about this palace. The lilacs were in bloom outside. We also saw the amber workshop and wonderful gift selection.

Visting this place it is easy to see why there was a revolution. The concentration of riches is fantastic. We visited on a tour which was informative. We would have liked more time in the garden, so it would be worth considering an independent visit.

Versailles and Catherine's Palace have a lot in common and it is stunning and also easy to understand why the people revolted. Great tour.

We visited as part of the Alla tour and found this palace to be splendid and as extravagant as many of the other sights. Our guide was wonderful and provided great information and a run through of the main sights. Well worth a visit
