We had a nice drive here from Alla Tours after our visit to Peterhof. The gardens and grounds are beautiful but what I wanted to see was the amber room. Yes, it was spectacular!! No photos allowed in there.

I visited this place in winter, though it was really cold but it was charming in its way. Worth a visit!

Simply cannot be missed while in St Pete. Fantastic art, deep history. Very beautiful on a sunny day - we were extremely lucky to have clear skies and sun while in St Pete and everything just shined at the Catherine Palace. We took a private tour with White Nights and they arranged speedy entry, tickets and explained the history of... More

Go as early in the morning as you can (but not more than 1/2 hour before it opens), you will then feel like a tzar being the first one to access the palace. Extremely well-preserved thanks to the work done after the destruction in WWII

The Park must be quite beautiful in the summer, but its winter and very cold. The Palace is quite beautiful, inside is a legend constructed of amber panels backed with gold leaf and mirrors, the Amber Room. It was given to Peter the Great by a Prussian King in 1716, and installed in Catherine Palace; it was later extended to... More

The Summer Palace has been beautifully restored to its original condition after the tragedy left by the German soldiers in WWII. A visit offers one an opportunity to wonder at life for the Royal Family. Opulent and breathtaking.

This is a must see attraction in St Petersburg. The Grandeur and finery is beyond belief. The history is fascinating. Imagine being completely surrounded by gold leaf. Imagine a room where the walls are amber. Beyond imagination.

A superb building, artefacts, clothing displays, gilded finishes to a very high standard. Again a guide is helpful to get the most out of your visit. We visited in winter snow on the ground and had a sleigh ride around the grounds

We went in winter and there was not line outside - i was told there is a 1-2 hour wait in summer - not sure if i would do that. Inside is fascinating as you would expect, but in reality maybe like other palaces around the world. The grounds are worth viewing

Catherine Palace is a fairly large palace of several Russian Tsars. It is now a state museum where photography without use of flash inside is allowed. One of the most unique selling point is the Amber Room inside where the room was mostly decorated with real amber. Though much of the amber works was "redone" after WWII, it is a... More
