Most visitors to Tindari come to view the shrine to the Black Madonna. But, gentle reader, there is more.... Not terribly well signposted (take the left corner out of the square opposite the steps to the shrine past the souvenir shops) and no more than 300 metres from the crowds you come to the Archeological site. It is a peaceful... More

Whenever I visit tindari, I spend the day there. Have something to eat and relax and enjoy the day. Walk around the ruins and explore. Definitely worth a visit.

Difficult to find as sign posting terrible but worth the effort just for the mosaics and views. The theatre would be great to see a play in the summer

Tindari is a hidden gem in the midst of all of the beauty that is Sicilia. It is like a mini Pompeii and it looks as though there is still plenty more that is being excavated. The only issue we had (and it's our fault for not knowing the Italian language) is that there is limited English translations of the... More

To get to the archeological ruins at Tindari (Tyndaris) you need first to get to the vast sanctuary dominating the landscape and then drop down past all the tacky stalls. Officially you need to park at the bottom of the hill and take the shuttle bus up, but all visitors were ignoring the no entry signs when we went, and... More

Entrance fee was a very reasonable €4 per adult (children <16 are free). Plenty to see - ruins, mosaics and the amphitheatre itself. Feels like a mini Pompei. You can really get a sense of how the town was laid out across the landscape etc. Well worth a visit.

The archaeological area of Tindari had quite a few Greek and Roman ruins to see, as well as a small museum with artifacts and a history of the area. There were paths winding around the ruins, which included a theater, a "basilica" and numerous other buildings. One of the best parts was that we basically had the place to ourselves.... More

This archaeological area reminded me of Pompeii but 100% less crowded and of course smaller. It is well worth the 4 euros and the views and photo opportunities are plentiful. Highly recommend!

Billed as "ruins" but there was much to see. Well worth spending a few hours walking around and looking at remarkably well preserved buildings and beautiful mosaics. The scenery is also breathtaking. Great views of the island and the local vegetation.
