Called in to the Wanston Arms after a trip home from the coast. What an absolute gem of a pub and such friendly staff and customers.
Great selection of not the run of the mill ales and craft lagers, including Estrella for the not so adventurous, and a roaring log burner.
My only gripe is that it’s around 30 miles from my home town, but without a doubt exactly what a village pub should be like.
Can’t wait to go back and spend a proper day there.

We took a lunchtime trip out to The Wonston Arms as a birthday treat and were amazed at the measures that have been taken to make the outside space welcoming, warm, attractive and safe. A huge effort has been made by the enterprising landlord and the good thing is, this space will continue to be very appealing in all weather after the pub is fully open.

The Wonston is the type of pub that really deserves to flourish. The landlord goes out of his way to welcome and chat to his customers - this is definitely not a cliquey local. It's a great place for a chat but equally good if you just want to sit on your own .

Be aware that food is not served but instead there is a variety of visiting food vans in the evening throughout the week. The beer is superbly kept.

Unfortunately we are not local. If we were, The Wonston would probably be our second home! It really deserves support. It's wonderful!

I can understand why this pub was voted best in Britain. It knocks it out of the park.
It has the best beer selection I’ve come across, the gin bar is extensive beyond belief. This is a pop food pub, we’ve just had the best fish and chips in the whole wide world. If you’re in the area this is a must, if your not then I suggest you make an effort. We will certainly be back.

This is a great example of a little country pub at its very best, despite no food, [ not a bad thing } the landlord has put together curry nights and various pop ups such as pizza, fish and chips and wet fish .
A great selection of gins and has some lovely real ales from all over the country , kept very well.I might add.
Very lean with a great garden called the beach very innovative use of the garden , A little off the beaten track but well worth the trouble seeking it out.
Freindly and helpful staff and a cheerful owner who is very hands on.
Music nights and quizzes too

We were visiting the Bombay Sapphire Distillery and were looking for a dog-friendly pub nearby. It was one of the nicest pubs I've ever been to - and I've been to a few! The landlord couldn't have been more welcoming and the locals were absolutely lovely. The landlord has an amazing gin collection - over 50 - so if you're going to the nearby distillery it makes a great brilliant end to the day. Our dog was happy because everyone made a fuss of him and he even got some complimentary dog treats.

Decided to visit this place given the reviews. Got there at 6.30pm on a Saturday to be told they close at 8pm on Saturdays - yes 8pm!!!! Also the couple next to us decided to change their babies dirty nappy on their lap in front of us. Not the ideal place for a first date!
Shame as the barman seems nice and the interior quirky

Went for a pint here on recommendation from a friend - not disappointed. Nice selection of real ale, good tip if you want to try them all ( and your driving) you can ask for 3 thirds of a pint for the price of ........one pint! 180 different gins on sale as well, Wife had Hendricks Summer Solstice which she loved. Great friendly atmosphere , we sat and chilled in one of the leather sofas. Don't be afraid of the parking double parking is expected in the car park, you just ask in the pub when you leave “ does anyone own a black Audi.” They come out and move it - no issues. Will be back.

Worth a visit because it's so different. Good beer as you would expect. I hesitate to spoil it for you by going into too much detail. Suffice to say you'll enjoy it most on a sunny summers day. I've said yes to food below but this is occasional so see their website.
