Doi Pui is the highest mountain in the Chiang Mai area and is located about 15 km outside Chiang Mai. In the old days, this area was a hotbed of opium and poppy production. Now it is reconstituted as a national park as part of a royal initiative and the opium and poppy fields have been replaced by beautiful gardens.... More

It is the nearest on the mountain nearest to CHiang Mai city. About 1600m above sea level. There are hundreds of steps to climb, and a small admission fee. As I had visited numerous wat and temple across Thailand, this one don't really excite me. But one can have a complete view of CM city from the top. There are... More

I travelled up the mountain in the late afternoon to see the view over Chiang Mai and waited there for sunset when the golden pagoda was lit up and it looked magic against the cobalt blue sky. The monks filed into the prayer house where they were chanting in front of the Buddha statue. The temple area was not overcrowded... More

We went in May but at this time its fairly dry and the water falls are a trickle and things are a bit dried out. Maybe best after the wet season.

(kinda the point) Well, i dont if people just got out for the first time but it was quite of disappointing, reading all the comments and then getting there and asking if people were high when reviewing this place. Ppl should travel a bit first before... More

This is a rating of the temple only. For me the time-consuming process of transport up to the temple was not worth it. The temple was nice but to me not anything special vs. the temples located closer to the city.
