The hills are turning green, the sun is mostly shining and spring is here to stay! Take a visit to see Britain’s only free-ranging herd of reindeer in their natural habitat. May is an exciting time for us reindeer herders as antlers are beginning to grow and it’s calving season! Visits go every day at 11am and 2.30pm at this time of year, follow a reindeer herder as you make your way up to the mountain enclosure, walk amongst reindeer, stroking and feeding them as the herder tells you more about them. Situated in the centre of the Cairngorms National Park, you will also enjoy beautiful views of the Cairngorm Mountains. The walk takes around 20 minutes and will cross some rough and muddy ground on the mountainside so make sure you’ve got some sturdy footwear and some nice cosy layers! Spaces are limited so please arrive in good time for your chosen visit. For those less able, from Easter to New Year, you can visit a small group of reindeer in the paddock & exhibition at the Centre, quizzes and crafts for children.

We didn't take part in finding the heard however, just stayed at the visitor centre. It's great for kids all ages. It has a trail for finding elves that the kids love and some informative information about reindeer. Great wee stop on the way home.

A fantastic few hours, a nice walk and then hand feeding the reindeer. The staff were approachable and knowledgeable and made the experience more enjoyable. We have been twice now and have no worries about going back again at a later point

A truly unique attraction and one that families of all ages will adore. The experience of being up on the side of Mount Cairngorm feeding these wonderful reindeer by hand was a highlight of the holiday. My daughter has now adopted one 2 years running...More

Spent time looking round the centre before meeting for the guided walking tour. Most enjoyable and really informative. You are able to spend as much time as you want with the herd and make your own way down. Really good experience.

Lovely visit and experience, quite unusual. The whole place is very well organised, lots of background history too. The reindeer were in super condition and very tame.

We opted for the paddock visit as had our 2 year old grandson with us and he wouldn't have managed the walk up the hill to feed the herd. He loved getting close to the reindeer and also loved the elves house .

The whole experience was amazing, staff friendly and knew their stuff when it came to reindeer. The short walk down the valley over the mountain stream and up the other side can be managed easily and the reindeer on the other side make it worthy...More

This was an amazing experience and the reindeer were so tame and friendly. It was so nice to see animals in their own habitat and not in cages or enclosures. Olly the guy that took us on the tour was very knowledgeable and made sure...More

The reindeer are beautiful. They had moved away from us, so we gave them a call, (as you do when you're farmers calling your stock) and they lifted their heads and came back towards us, just a stunning sight and to be so close to...More

A lovely experience with these animals in their natural habitat. After a short climb, and an interesting explanation by the guide about the reindeer, their habitat and how they found their way here, you are given the opportunity to hand feed the reindeer.

I think it can be snow there, as we have seen cablecar equipment for skiing - and this is a big investment, so logically there must be snow. If you want to see and feed the deers you better check their homepage - as I think... More

Hi, Sorry for the slow reply! You should allow about an hour for the Paddock area with a 6 year old, as they will be the ideal age for all the children's activities there. Best wishes Hen
