Our group tour of Shetland, included a stop at the Hoswick Visitor Centre. This is an interesting mix of a cafe with attractive snacks, a gift shop selling a good range of Shetland (and other) crafts and gifts. Also artifacts, pictures/photographs and information relating to the history and current activities in the area. It is an excellent facility for such a small place and we would visit again if travelling independently

Fabulous cafe, had a really lovely lunch here with a group I was part of. The team here are friendly and knowledgeable, the food is produced to order and is very tasty. The quiches are delicious as are the toasted sandwiches Tea was plentiful too. It has a very tempting gift shop too

Rather a small Sassermaet burger in a large bun. My wife found it quite good. I felt it was a bit bland. I ended up putting quite a bit of ketchup on it as I felt the high percentage of bread in each mouthful was drawing the moisture out. We were glad we tried it, but probably won’t bother again. Venue rather good. Staff very young, probably learning on the job, but did everything required.

We had planned to stop here for coffee but ended with a breakfast. It was stunning. Lovely ladies (Lynne and Betty in particular as well as the chef whose name I didn’t get). Great price, freshly cooked and was brilliant. The filter coffee is excellent Went in the shop as well and got some great gifts made by locals. Lovely to talk about the history of Hoswick but great advice for off the normal tourist attractions (ruined village and lime kilns at Fladdsbister is fabulous - if a man approaches you, please spend the time with Douglas as he shares his knowledge of the village which is fascinating). But the visitor centre is a must for food, history, chat and gifts
