Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing building, amazing art. The Tjentiste memorial center is breathtaking, a place of great battles and suffering... Nature and the environment are a real treasure

This is place where was one of the greatest battle against 10x bigger Nazi troops. I strongly recommend that everyone visit Museum, Memorial House and ask for Tijana (custodian). We were impressed by her detail knowledge of this historical battle. She will lead you through all chronological and historical facts, otherwise this memorial site will not understood correctly or visitor will have very limited knowledge about what had happened in this IIWW battle.
Entrance fee is 5KM/person.
Near by is Restaurant where you can get more information about interesting places in National Park Sutjeska, that you should visit. My recommendation is Waterfall Skakavac (Grasshopper)

When you come to this place you can feel the calmness. I think the monument is better maintained than it was in previous years. There is also a little museum where you can hear some facts about the battle. You can also hike to the tomb of Partisan commander Sava Kovačević, which is about 20-30 minutes above the main monument (43.35166, 18.67829).

The memorial is located just off the main road in Tjentiste opposite Restoran Nacionalne Kuhinje ‘Komlen’ which also has a small information centre on park activities. It is worth calling here to buy a map of the area (5KM) and some information on suggested activities.
The memorial was built in 1971 to commemorate the Battle of Sutjeska which took place towards the end of World War II between a Yugoslav Partisans force and the Nazi's. It formed an important turning point in the war. The design is striking. Constructed on a hill above the road in a modernist style with two identical geometric abstract forms said to resemble angels wings. The passage between the wings leads to a plateau where the names of all partisan units that took part in the battle are carved in stone tablets.
The memorial was badly damaged during the war in the early 1990's but has since been restored and improved upon with granite steps replacing what was presumably concrete in the original construction.
There are also splendid views from the top of the memorial.

The power and force of this bold memorial abstract statue only adds to the admiration one feels when reading of the Partisan fights against the Nazi forces in WWII

A beautiful old-school memorial. The wings are on a hill and there are two arcs of stairs leading to the foot of the Spomenik. The hill and the stairs are under massive reconstruction. The memorial has been damaged during the war and they are now rebuilding/reconstructing it. Hope it is for the better!

The Tjentiste War Memorial is a very impressive monument high on a hill within the Sutjeska National Park, it is accessed by semi-circular staircases. It is quite a climb with over 200 steps.
It is worth a check out when visiting the national park, which by the way is amazing!
However, it seemed a bit neglected since some of the stairs were broken and the place seemed badly maintained. The monument itself is intact!

This war memorial at Tjentište commemorates the fighters and fallen soldiers of the Battle of the Sutjeska, which took place from May 15th to June 16th, 1943.
Two big stones, from the front they look like a pair of wings standing between beautiful mountains and fields are unique testimony of history, time and freedom.

Tjentište is a village in the municipality of Foča, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It lies entirely within Sutjeska National Park, and is most well known as the location of two monuments commemorating the 1943 Battle of the Sutjeska; the Valley of Heroes (1971) by Miodrag Živković and the concrete Memorial House by Ranko Radović, which contains unfinished frescoes by famed Croatian artist Krsto Hegedušić.
