This was part of a private tour from Athens which included Mycenae and Corinth Canals. We had Yanus from SBC as our driver and provider was Athen's Insider.
Skouras has some very good wines. One of them is called Labyrinth. In 2001, George Skouras filled a French foudre barrel (1000 litres) for the first time with the final blend of the 1999 Megas Oenos. $187/bottle

Since then, every year, a quantity is removed from the barrel. Its place is taken by the next harvest of the Megas Oenos. Thus creating a blend of continuous harvests, unique in its kind. The amount removed is bottled under the Labyrinth name. Producing a limited number of bottles each year.

The Labyrinth results from an approach to the Spanish method of Solera. Essentially in the same barrel every year a part of the new harvest comes to be added to a mixture of the previous and consecutive vintages of the Megas Oenos.

Needless to say we didn't taste Labyrinth but what we did taste we enjoyed.

The lunch we had was extraordinary. Large Skouras salad which was the best we had, Fava beans, Mousaka, etc. We had so much left over we gave to our driver. Should have been enough to feed him and his wife and daughter.

This was a spur of the moment visit on our way to Nafplio. It reminded me of Napa tastings due to facility and knowledgeable staff. Our server, Stella, was friendly and so kind to take us without a reservation. At this faculty they cellar wine and produce it but the main vineyards are north. There are some beautiful vines on the property with grapes ! Harvest season is in August. This is worth a visit if you are a wine lover since this winery is well known in the US and they have multiple wines for sale in the shop at the facility. Tastings are 12 euros each. A must visit!

From planning our day trip & communicating with them to arriving this was a delightful day trip.

The staff were wonderful, Flora was an absolute gem with her immaculate english she explained the whole history & background. Watch out for Kr Sophias food! Her dolmadhakia were yummy.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Mr Skouras along with his charming son Dimitris.

Delightful day indeed.

The Skouras staff was great and really helped us understand the wines we were tasting. Since this was part of the total experience organized by Hellenic Adventures, we have no way of knowing how the price for tasting stacks up against other wineries. However, our actual experience was great.

There are many wonderful wineries in the area. This one seemed to charge more for their tasting, be more inefficient handling guests, and provide a worse tour experience overall. Some of the wines seemed a bit astringent and blunt.

Arriving in Nafplio we were looking for a wine tasting and we’re grateful to Skouras for fitting us in at short notice on the shoulder season. Bookings are required because you get a dedicated tour and tasting with excellent briefs. Skouras is a founding wine maker of the region. Tasting options are 4 or 6 wines. As a couple we tasted 9 unique wines. Nibbles provided. Great facilities. Definitely recommend.

We were a group of six aged 18-60 (mostly under 30) and had our own tour and wine tasting experience. Our guide was very informative and friendly. We learnt a lot about the history of the winery and the wine making process and she talked us through the different characteristics of our 4 delicious wines. All for €10 a head. Plus the bottles we bought because the wines were so good! Enjoyed by all!

A lovely guide - well informed - excellent presentation of the wines - it would be worth taking the more expensive option to have the opportunity to taste above the mid-range qualities. This vineyard is innovative - moving with the times - and merits lots of support for their work.

For West Coast Americans, Domaine Skouras on the Nemea wine trail is the perfect starter winery. That’s because everything will be familiar to you beginning with the building, which would look at home in Napa, and the tasting routine.

The tour begins with a brief history of the winery at the entry surrounded by award certificates. Next is a brief look at the barrel cellar followed by the tasting. The tasting offers four wines. We got to choose two reds and two whites from their list of seven reds, seven whites and a rose. Between tastes we were given a couple of Greek bread sticks and a sampling of Greek graviera cheese (like a sharper gruyere), water and an individual crachoir. Our pleasant, English speaking guide confidently described the wines.

We bought three bottles of the elegant Salto, their wild yeast Movrofilero-clone white, which we already knew. But based on the tasting bought a case of Moscofilero, our favorite mainland Greek grape. Greek reds have been harder for us to get to know, so we were pleased to get help navigating the Skouras labels in wine talk we understood. We bought a mixed case of Saint George, their entry level Agiorghitiko, and Megas Oenos (“Great Wine”) an upscale, smooth, Agiorghitiko/Cab blend. The tastings were 9 euros each; no waiver for the purchase, but they did cheerfully throw in a bottle of the very drinkable rose, which we enjoyed in our hotel that night.

Because of the Covid requirement to space visitors, you need to phone or email ahead for a reservation. We gave them our travel window, which they accommodated. Plan 45 to 60 minutes. (We are experienced sip-and-toss tasters, but our hostess couldn’t help commenting with an amused smile that we “drank fast.”)
