Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The architecture of the building is breathtaking. The interior exhumes knowledge and culture. The inner courtyard should not be missed. Try to sneak up into the classrooms. The façade is very attractive and its iconography rivals the churches in the vicinity. Highly recommended.

Universidad Sancti Spiritus was the old university located in Oñati, a historical and tiny town of the Basque Country. It is located near the main square of the town. Outside there are some parks and beautiful buildings. The facade is very beautiful. We did a guided visit in the main building and we could see the chapel, the cloister, go up to the upper floor and see views of the complex and enter to some rooms. A very interesting visit in a very beautiful and old town, which seems a university city. Moreover, 10 km from here there is Arantzazu Sanctuary, a modern, curius and great religious temple.

The International Institute for the Sociology of Law is an excellent institute, in which renowned lectures teach and students follow the master program from all over the world. It is small and dedicated academic community suppoted by an excellent staff. The library is great.

Beautiful building from the xxvi cent. hosting the international institute for the sociology of law and the local archive. Full of sculptures, a lovely atrium with two floor porticos. A must in Onati.

Onati is a beautiful small city wonderfully situated; the exterior of the University, as other locations in the central area, is quite stunning. But for us, the real surprise were the two carved wooden altarpieces, the main one gigantic and a second quite sizeable, in the Monasterio that will be to your left as you enter town from the north (if, like us, you have first gone to see Loiola). The road to Onati from there, due south, winds and climbs over a pass -- an Italian mountain driving experience.
6 km south of Onati, the way well marked, is another sanctuario, much more modern -- and, again, the inside is the reason to go. The outside is very modern; striking sculptures are over the entrance, and inside the stone church there is a stunning carved stone altarpiece, at least 40 feet high, thirty wide. The route into mountains that in late March were still snow covered and beautifu.

When we were in this city everything was closed. We were nevertheless able to admire the superb Plateresque-style gate of the university , the exterior of the Church of San Miguel, under which passes a river and finally the Plaza de la Mairie

Nice to see what some of the oldest lecture halls of this 800 year old university look like, but I expected a little more from the visit. Together with our 14-year-old daughter, we paid about 25 euros for the entrance and I don't think that is entirely proportionate for the fairly short visit. Especially because the Heaven of Salamanca turned out to be free to visit, in the monastery opposite the university.
I would say go if you have more than two days in Salamanca, otherwise prioritize other monuments.
