A really historic castle that is slowly falling down. It is through a little gate and up a hill but is amazing when you get there. Really historic and lots of history explained - there was no one around when we visited seems to be...More

Standing prominently overlooking Lunan bay, Red Castle lives up to its name. Take the short walk from the roadside up the hill through the narrow gate and you’re rewarded will fantastic views of the bay and beyond. Look closer up at the castle keep turrets...More

This is a hidden gem of a castle! The ruin is very interesting and the views are spectacular! It looks like the whole thing will tumble into the river below at any point due to the extreme erosion of the hill, probably not while you...More

The view from the derelict castle is superb and the walk down and along the beach is certainly worth it, even on a cold wintry windy day.

Nice spot for a picnic with good panoramic view of the coast, not much left of the castle but still some interesting features to ponder

On a dry day Lunan bay with its sandy beach , sand dunes river bank and Red Castle is a fab place for a walk.

Lovely views, not a lot left though and it looks like the castle will be falling in the sea soon! Don't try and go down the path to the beach / river from the top, big drop from erosion and sinkholes on the beach.

There's not a lot to say about Red Castle. It's an old ruined castle on a hill overlooking the magnificent Lunan Bay. There's no obvious touristy blurb anywhere to be seen, just an old ruin. It does look pretty good though and the views out...More

We got engaged here so special memories. Great views. Not much to see of the castle anymore as it's falling down but lively little walk up then down aling beach to little group of caravans.
