its a great place
Aug 2021 • Family
been visiting regular for over 30 yrs. its a beautiful place it has it all. big play area for kids huge lake to walk around. woodland walks and streams. we take our dog up at least once a fortnight. lucky to live a 30 min drive away and the local pub 5 min walk away from the entrance does the best food for miles around at a reasonable price. this also has fantastic views from the beer garden and is dog friendly. we visited another st trent owned reservoir out past ashbourne and that was a massive disappointment compared to here

Pleasant place to visit
Jul 2021
A lovely place to go, very scenic. There were several walks about the water, sadly the views of the water mainly hidden once in the forest and wood land. However, these were still pleasant. We walked the accessible route, but, using a wheeled walking frame, i have to say there were some slopes and inclines that i found rather difficult. You have to pay to park and there is a short stay of a longer one. The visitor center was nice, and we sat on the balcony for a light lunch. There was a very good selection and food was attractively presented. Not the cheapest place however you do get a really nice experience and the staff were pleasant.

Short walks ok, but there are far better long walks to be taken in Staffordshire.
Jul 2021
It is indeed a beautiful part of the world. The reservoir long walk is just a man made stone track that keeps you well away from the water. You could be walking anywhere in the Staffordshire country side. A far better place to visit is Rudyard lake as there is so much more to see. We found the walk all a bit clinical. Worth a visit with the kids on one of the shorter walks, but there are far nicer places to visit in the area if you fancy a good long walk. All we remember of the long walk is the rather boring grey stone gravel track with the water well away in the distance. Most of the time hidden behind trees. While walking found the edge of farmers fields.

Very enjoyable walk and lovely surroundings.
Jul 2021 • Couples
Today was our first visit to Tittesworth. Having only been to Rudyard Lake before, Tittesworth surpassed all our expectations. Granted, we had the most beautiful summer weather, but we were so impressed by the visitor centre and restaurant and the amount of parking space, all laid out out in lovely surroundings. The views are magnificent all the way round. We are very experienced walkers and thought it might be just a flat boring walk, but the Reservoir trail was really good. Plenty of benches along the way aswell. We will be back!

Wonderful attraction for walking and lunch/a bite
May 2021 • Couples
We wish this attraction was near us, we would have a season tickets for sure. If you in the area and looking for a short or long activity we would highly recommend the location.
Parking may we an issue on public holidays, but our visit was a Monday morning and the place was fairly quiet.
After an extremely refreshing walk around one of the easy lake trails we returned to the car park and had a simple but excellent lunch in the modern visitor centre.

Beautiful surroundings
May 2021 • Couples
Lots of great parking over looking the water with lots of wildlife activity.
Nice walks well signed posted, some on footpaths others muddy in some places. Everywhere well looked after unfortunately the notices asking for dogs to be on leads is not upheld by the animals owners.
Visitors centre light and airy also Covid safe one way system in operation. Drinks & cake very nice reasonable priced. Great day out.

Look forward to my next visit
May 2021 • Friends
One of my favourite places for birdwatching when the hide opposite the Roaches is open but still happy to walk around instead to catch sight of the variety of birds at Tittesworth.
After our walk we enjoyed a hot drink and delicious scone from the take away and there was plenty of outside, well spaced seating. Good Covid precautions in place. Look forward to another visit when more facilities allowed to open.

Great Outdoor Space. Recommended Visit
Apr 2021
Lovely location. Plenty of parking at Visitor Center with large play area's for the little ones. There are picnic benches and toilets which were all in very good order along with a couple of really good walks which are well sign posted. We took in the full 5 mile circular route around the Reservoir on very well maintained paths stopping at the dam for snacks and a rest. Visitors might also consider using this as a base for visiting Hen Cloud and the Roaches via Whitty Lane (check OS map for footpaths). Just down the road is the Lazy Trout pub which comes highly recommended. All in all we had a great first time at Tittesworth Water and hope to visit again when next in the area.

Breathtaking place but absolutely spoiled
Apr 2021 • Couples
Saw a similar post on the NZ tripadvisor and I have to agree - dogs not allowed offlead spoils it for me. So many excuses as to why they're not allowed off lead, but plenty of other nature reserves and reservoirs who allow dogs off leads without issue - not all of us are irresponsible dog owners but have to pay for the actions of a minority. Yet I saw discarded spliffs, cigarette butts and copious amounts of litter strewn in the bushes along the path...and dogs are the problem??
Also saw an excuse on the other trip advisor about farmers using the fields for turning hay which could be destroyed by dog faeces - I'm sorry but when charging £3 per car minimum I'm pretty sure you could reinvest that into some decent fencing to prevent anything getting onto the fields.

Real pity as it's an absolutely stunning place, but we've already got a substantial list of other reservoirs and beauty spots that truly are dog friendly so we won't be adding this one to our list.

We are really sorry you feel that way about our dogs on leads policy. As you mentioned one of the reasons is the risk to contamination of hay but this is not the only reason. There is also the risk to ground nesting birds (you wouldn't see these but they are present in a lot of areas on the site), the risk to livestock and also that some people are not comfortable with dogs approaching them. In hot weather there may also be blue green algae present along the edge of the water - this is naturally occurring in bodies of water and can be extremely poisonous for dogs. We understand that most dogs may be very well behaved and obedient but we have seen it many times over the years where they have worried sheep or disturbed ground nesting birds, the owners are more often than not surprised that their dog has acted in that way. We love dogs, most of us are dog owners, but we also love wildlife and understand that not everywhere is safe for dogs to be off leads - our dogs still love a walk around Tittesworth on their leads.
