Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A Newtown classic of long-standing. Great range of quality books. The knowledgeable and helpful staff are a big bonus.

Pretty poor experience in your store and extremely rude manager treated me verI have stop by at the bookshop last night and ask one of the staff member for a book called ” 7 Habits of Highly Effective People ”and showed her the book from.my phone and she found it on the shelf and being back to me and I purchased two other books at the same time when I checked them back home I realized that she gave me the 7 habits of Highly Effective Teens! I came back today and request for a change and been told that it's not in stock and I said it's pretty urgent I need the book today and I said I would like a refund and look for another bookshop to find it today rather than waiting for weeks. I am assuming ,the lady gave me a death stare ,was the manager and she said just ok and walked away. I went to counter and explained again and the staff at the counter she said she can not do refund and I said but the other lady with the death stare said it’s ok? And she called the other lady the with the death stare( assuming manager ) and ask her and I am thinking she will sort this out as she said Ok to me earlier but the manager simply just said no! Nothing else! I looked at her face waiting for an explanation thinking that she knows the story and this is her staff members mistake but nothing! I said this is unfair now you are forcing me to buy another book from your store (most likely I would never step in ever again) she just looked at me and just nodded with her death stare.
I am extremely dissappointed given that I was calling the shop one of my favourite store on King at, I am sad that I realised that you guys just another commercial shop. Shame on you and your grumpy disrespectful staff member running my experience in one of favourite store.
Have a good day

The selection at Better Read Than Dead is still pretty good, but I didn't find anything on this trip. It's hit and miss sometimes, but staff are always helpful. Good place.

This is my to go to bookstore in newtown. I enjoy reading classics and they have quite few range. Their highlight is their selections of pocket books i love it because it was the perfect size and they are books that you can finish in half days or few hours or maybe half an hr if you are fast reader. They are range frm $3-$5 ish and they are frm penguin classics and i fell in love with them. So i kept coming back to this bookshop for them. Its located on your right next to the entrance. Also the staff knows books which leads to one of them have quite long conversation with me regarding books im ordering.. and then he refers me to a book, so i went on purchase it and i loved it. Staffs are always helpful which is very much plus point if you are in bookshop with huge selections trying to find one particular book. Looking forward to go back next week!

'Better Read Than Dead' has an excellent selection in a small book store, but most genres are covered and the stuff are helpful for finding items or if you need a recommendation. Very good Bookstore.
