It is a 25 minute up-hill trek from the base and it is quite and easy trek. It is also fairly easy to reach from Karakol and most certainly worth a visit. Give yourself and hour for the entire trek and that should suffice.

Barskoon waterfall was really worth seeing even though it is located quite far. From the main road it would take you about 1 hour by car, and maybe 3 hours by foot to get there. To go up the waterfall you need good shoes though....More
I saw it in the fall and it as really nice for a half day. I plan on going there this winter to see all of the ice and maybe do some ice climbing.
