Been there on 5 Jan 2017, Its not that overwhelming to myself as I thought it too be. The place was under repair & the museum was also closed. The Rope way to Anni-Gompa was closed due to forthcoming Dalai lama visit.

The world's Second largest monastery is the best exponent of tibetian culture in India. Its vivid, colorful and has very lively vibes about it. There are virtually no tourist crowds. The meditation hall of the monastery and the small museum near it are a must-see!!

The monastry and the entire town of Tawang is superb! It was a trip from college. Wish I get to go there again very soon.

Like every monastery, has museum with old artifacts and pictures of famous people who visited Tawang. Can see many young child monks playing around.

The best monastery in Tawang hands down. Although I have seen more impressive monasteries in other parts of India. A must visit if you are in Tawang. The museum on the premises will give you an overview of all the famous people who have visited this monastery along with displays of old artefacts.

Nice building, friendly people and with student monks. A nice small museum with traditional instrument on display and some 6th Dalai Lama personal belonging. Also some old holy instrument made with human bones.

Big monastery having Library & Museum. Best approach is the back gate near Museum as it is in higher plane, it is easier to come down to main gate after the visit.

Old monastery, also have a very small museum, which can be really skipped. Looks really big from distance but the main prayer hall at the end is relatively small
