I had so much fun on this tour! George was an awesome host. I learned a lot, loved the tasting, and got to see a 1500 year old tree! They gave me an extra gift when I bought a bunch of souvenirs for friends and family. Great family. Amazing olive oil.

My wife and myself are currently holidaying in Benitses (staying at the new Angsana Corfu Hotel - Review to follow) and yesterday morning we visited the Governor Olive Mill at Agios Mattheos for a Private Tour (including a Tasting session). On arrival we were welcomed by George and two of the family dogs - shortly followed by his brother and 91 year old Grandfather who still comes to work every day. Indeed, with a full head of hair and excellent skin, there is no better Ambassador for the Governor Brand - one that now has global recognition and can be found in such well known outlets as Harrods of London! Returning to the tour, this began with George giving us a detailed briefing about the family business and the local Olive Oil Industry in the Museum area which featured some of the equipment used over the last century or two. We then moved across to the current production area which reflects the prominence that the Italians have in the sector as all the equipment on display originates from there! A most enjoyable tasting session then followed - not only of 2 Extra Virgin Oils but of just some of George’s mother’s excellent jams and marmalades. We were then given the opportunity to purchase some produce in the nearby shop. All in all a most enjoyable experience (one that cost Euros 15 per head) - greatly enhanced by George being such an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and professional host and equally impressive to see how the family have had the foresight/vision to link their outstanding operation with Corfu’s Tourism Sector. Without doubt a winning combination and one well worth visiting at firsthand!!

Wow! George, our expert olive oil tour guide and craftsman, has one of the best personalities this side of the Atlantic! His upbeat description of the history of olive oil production made a topic that could have been dull fun to listen to and engaging! When we thought it was done, he brought us into an amazing room (with A/C) and began to explain, in intimate detail, how to properly judge olive oil. From nutrients to simple sniff/taste test, we really learned how to tell a bad olive oil from a good one... Something I never thought I would need to know 😂 Look, if you're on the fence for something to do in Corfu and like unique experiences, pull the trigger on this and ask for George. It will be on of your unexpected best memories of your visit to this island! We did the 15€ tasting where we received olive oil samples with bread, feta and tomatoes, olive oil yogurt, and olive oil ice cream!

What a great time together with our guide George! Everything went perfect - warm welcome, interesting and educational story, good advices and a lot of joy&jokes. And as cherry on cake - olive oil testing - so cool to be reached how to do it right. 3 hours spent like some minutes. Suggest to everyone! Thank you, George!

It might bit a little difficult to funds but this experience was definitely worth it to us! We didn't do a reservation before arrival so it was kind of a lucky shot but fortunately we were able to join the tour. Because we were a little early the host George even suggested we could to a private tasting in stead of the longer tour. We decided to go for the regular one. George is a terrific host. He speaks very passionately and energetic about the history of the factory and the history of olive oil on Corfu. This with a large dose of humour and self mockery. But he is serious about one thing: the quality of olive oil. From the outside it might not seem as much of a attraction but the tour itself is great! In the end we actually learnt how to really taste olive oil like a fine wine and learn the different qualities of olive oils. Definitely would recommend going on this tour. This coming from a twenty something guy that used to find olive oil just a cooking product. Maybe do a reservation on forehand to be sure you can join.
