It had everything we needed including a fully fitted kitchen and has a freezer which is not specified on the website. it was very comfortable, warm and cosy. We would highly recommend especially as your dog is allowed to stay. All staff are very attentive and friendly. We booked the dog meadow and dog wood which is a great idea. The view over looking the lake was lovely. We would highly recommend.Visited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten 23 January 2023

As it was in winter the cafe was not open all the time, however this was not a problem as there is a shop and pub just down the road. Had a good night here, and a great breakfast in the morning.Visited March 2022Travelled with familyWritten 6 February 2023
- Alan FUpper Beeding, United Kingdom21 contributionsGreat Company, Great food and a Great Location. We have stayed at Sumners Ponds before in our touring caravan but last week we joined my extended family who stayed in one of the lodges. The accommodation was fabulous as was the location. Having 2 dogs in the group you really couldn't get a more dog friendly location. Without exception all staff we met were incredibly friendly and nothing was to much trouble. My wife had a couple of Zoom meetings the first finished at 2pm and the second started at 3pm - I went to the cafe and explained that i needed to make sure the food was available around 2pm. The team were fantastic, they pre ordered our food and asked the chef to time it as close to 2pm as possible - it worked like clockwork and the food was delicious. If you haven't been - go! if you have go back!Visited February 2023Written 17 February 2023
- Charlotte B14 contributionsA relaxing, beautiful placeWe stayed here in Lily Lodge, 13-16th March. It was the most beautiful lodge we have ever stayed in, really well equipped, clean, comfortable beds, powerful showers and the most stunning view across the lake. Husband did some fishing, caught a few large bream a 15lb carp and a 12lb carp. It was nice he was able to fish from the lodge decking. We booked into the dog meadow which is a field with tunnels and dog pool and a great wooded area. There’s also dog wood which is mostly woodland with a dog pool, we did this twice a day to give the dogs some freedom, the walks around the site are also lovely too. The site staff are happy and welcoming and Charley assisted us straight away when the wifi wouldn’t work. We can’t wait to return to Sumners Pond in the future.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 March 2023
- OBLondon, United Kingdom14 contributions3 nights in Pod 5 at Sumners Ponds centralised around carp fishingI stayed in pod 5 at sumners ponds during the last week of March 2023 for 3 nights. Having been fishing here many times as a kid it was great to take my girlfriend and get a taste of nostalgia. I would say that fishing on Sumners lake is overly tricky and as such I would only recommend for experienced carp fishermen as without a fair bit of experience iy will be hard to land the carp. The weather during my stay was terrible- strong winds and heavy rain throughout which was the opposite of ideal, yet did made for good fishing conditions. As a result I was able to land 3 carp to 20lbs 2oz which I was very happy with. All carp on this lake fight extremely hard, which made for great sport as even the smallest carp (around 7lbs) gave a good fight. If you plan to fish for carp I strongly advise not putting in too much bait and avoid spodding as this seemed to kill the swim of other anglers who took this approach- instead stick to bags and loose feed from throwing sticks as this had great results for me! The pod was fantastic. Clean, warm and cozy with the fishing swim in great condition also, making it near impossible to fault. Something that really stood out was the exceptional service I received from Debbie in the reception, as her friendly and cheerful attitude set a positive tone for our stay, and she remained a delight throughout. If you are a somewhat experienced fisherman looking for an ideal weekend to spend with your partner where you can fish while still keeping them in comfort- pod 5 and sumners ponds as a whole is a great shout!Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 March 2023
- rob l1 contributionPeace and Calm at SumnersJust returned from a four-day stay at Sumner’s Pond. We stayed at Willows Hide. We arrived to a table laid with one of the best cakes I have ever eaten, farmyard eggs and milk and the cabin immaculately clean. The cafe by the lake also served gorgeous fresh food and coffee, the toilets were clean and ample with a lovely touch of piped birdsong just for fun. The flowers outside were beautiful throughout the ponds and were tended to expertly by Roy. Even though it is a haven for fishing, as non-anglers we thoroughly enjoyed it, simply as a restful bubble of calm. The dog wood was great for us to test out our sproodle’s recall too. The accessible walks through the grounds were interesting and the location allowed us easy access to Leith Hill in the Surrey Hills, the Silent Pool gin distillery just near Shere to the north. We absolutely loved our time at Sumners and are already planning our next stay there.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 July 2023
- LucycloverLondon, United Kingdom135 contributionsGreat placeAnother great stay at Sumners ponds, I don’t think you can fault this campsite. The grounds are well kept and the toilet facilities are excellent. Water and electric on your pitch. Cocktails at the cafe is a nice touch. Easy walk to the local pub. The only downside I can find is that our pitch backed into the road which leads to the fishing lakes, so from 6am there were cars driving up there which woke us up. They don’t drive up there slowly either. Great stay and we will be back!Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 19 August 2023
- Linda CFareham, United Kingdom4 contributionsDisappointedWhen we booked at the beginning of summer we asked for 2 camper vans to be together. When we arrived we found we were sort of together but with a road in between us. We had a dog with us and having a road between the 2 vans meant we had to be more vigilant with the dog as, she goes back and forth. The sight was also very crowded and there wasn’t much privacy . Not sure if we’d returnVisited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 9 September 2023
- Charlotte B14 contributionsBest place ever!!This is our favourite place to come!! We have been 5 times now, we always stay in Lily lodge which is perfect, fishing from the decking and fully enclosed for our dogs. Hubby has caught quite a few fish, decent sized carps and breams so he’s always happy. The lodge has everything you could want or need, the cake, wine, eggs and condiments are such a lovely welcome. The meadow and wood are great areas for the dogs to let off some steam. The restaurant is dog friendly and welcoming. The staff cannot do enough for you here, everyone greets you with a smile. This time we also rented Grebe lodge as more of us came and this was a cosy, well equipped lodge, with a decking area. We can’t wait to come back in May.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 20 November 2023

Hi do we need a car to get around as I will be coming with my friend by train?

That depends on what your plans are, a car would be useful, we stay there with a motorhome and have no other transport. There is a lovely cafe on site with a bar and there is a shop and pub just down the road. I'm not sure about public transport but the staff in Reception are extremely helpful so will be able to give you advice.

Am due to stay in a B&B shepherd hut for a few nights, do we have to book breakfast or can we just turn up? Website makes it seem like we have to book for breakfast even though it's included? Have emailed and called but haven't had a reply!
