We were traveling back to Auckland after a fast paced holiday. Had some time to kill, so I made a hard brake and turn when I saw their sign on the roadside. Not for from the main road. Turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Don't hurry. Take the time to look and explore all the... More

We've been driving for 3 hours when we saw a sign that says "ngatea water garden". We wanted to stretch our legs, so we stopped to visit. It was much more interesting than we could have imagined. Well curated gardens, peacocks, ducks, an impressive can museum, humorous signs that made us laugh out loud. For 50 cents you can buy... More

I suspect the Ngatea Water Gardens are one of the few man made tourist attractions on the Hauraki Plains and could best described as a coffee or food stop on a trip to or from the Bay of Plenty and the Waikato and Auckland. Its a bit of fun and interest for adults but likely to be even more so... More

We visited as a family of two adults and two kids. It was great fun, particularly for the kids who loved the tricks and quirky things you discover as you're going around. Great little quiz for the kids and at the end they get a lollipop for completing it. Shame there isn't a little cafe but overall a really impressive... More

Stop here for an hour two stretch, just off SH2 at the entrance of the Coromandel Peninsula. Don't get confused in the carpark, you can park anywhere, it is just the unique sense of humour they have, and that is just the beginning :-) Bring your picnic bag, plenty of nice area to chill out. There's even a playground inside.... More

Went here for a wedding, it was beautiful, better than I expected. Been meaning to stop for years. Wish I had time to see it all.

Recently I was taken to the Water Garden by a friend who knew the couple who made this garden from scratch. I laughed my way around reading what King Arthur was saying & was astonished by the collection in Arthur's Canny Museum which houses over 11,000 beer, soft drink around the world. I had the pleasure of visiting Emma, the... More

We took my Mum here for a surprise day out. The staff where so kind to us and made her day special. The birds that you can feed and follow you around, make you laugh. It is a great place with an easy walkway and so much to see.
