We had a wonderful time visiting the 3 cenotes. You only have to pay 350 pesos for entry and that includes a meal. You can choose to ride to the cenotes in a horse drawn buggy or by bicycle or by foot.
We were, however, horrified by the mistreatment of the horses.
I have taken care of horses my whole life so I know what to expect. This was horrendous. The horses are clearly overworked and all have sores on their noses from pulling too much weight for too much time without the proper equipment.

Homun is a beautiful pueblo that is surrounded by the beauty of Cenotes. We hired a mototaxi guide and he was reasonably priced. He provided life jackets, took plenty of pictures, patiently waited, and was accommodating. Though I had a vehicle, it is not the same experience as having a guide. Plus, the roads are narrow and rocky. I'd be afraid of getting a flat tire. We went to approx 5 cenotes and each one was unique in its own way. You leave Homun feeling relaxed and touched by its naturalistic aura.

Following the suggestion of some of
the other reviews, we drove to the center of Homun and parked on the parking in front of the church. We were approached by Jesus from Homun Maravilloso tours. He drove us around on his tuk tuk to 4 Cenotes (3 different types). Jesus is very patient, provides a lot of explanations (in Spanish), and some good tips and suggestions. We loved the tour. We didn’t swim but the tour took around 3 hours. A real highlight of our stay in Yucatan, something not to be missed. We highly recommend Homun Maravilloso (can be found on Google) and Jesus (can be found in the center of the town).

Cenotes were great!!! But note to all travellers, PLEASE bring any animal food and flea/tick medication if you can. This municipality has a very bad stray dog and cat problem, all of which were loosing their hair and very skinny. We fed about 60 dogs while driving around the village and ran out of food trying to give different dogs a handful each. They are apprehensive of humans but will gobble up the food when you give them a bit of distance. :)

There are many cenotes in Homun and we went to Tza-Ujun-Kat. The stairs down to the cenote are very steep and require that you hold on to a rope as you descend. We were able to do this with a toddler in tow without issue, but it felt a little more adventurous than most other cenotes we've been to.
It was very much a cave with stalactites, and bats and birds flying around. The water was cool but not too cold and we were required to wear life jackets the whole time. We swam for about an hour and enjoyed it. There aren't facilities at this cenote, though I think there were changing rooms somewhere in town that we could have used.

Nazy picked us up at Merida hotel and drove us to several different kinds of cenotes in Homun (Bal-Mil, Canuchen, and two at Santa Rosa). He is so personable and shared fascinating information about the area and about Mayan culture. Leave early to avoid crowds, have the Conchinta Pibil at Santa Rosa Restaurant (to die for!),

We drove here and found a guide on the side of the road when we arrived (Jorge). He took us to three (we could choose) and was kind, patient, and very helpful. We loved it!! All three seemed very safe, temp checks and hand washing AND a shower before!

We're visiting Merida, and friends recommended Homun as the place to go for cenotes. Soooo glad we did. Other reviews already tell you how beautiful they are, so I'm just going to fill in some of the details I think others left out. We took the second class bus from Merida for $M28 each. The bus driver made a stop on the road just outside Homun and told us tourists this was the place to get off, I think because they give a little business to the moto-taxi drivers here. It worked great for us because we coordinated with another couple (4 of us total) and negotiated a price of $M300 to take us all. I think the going price if you go to the main square is more like $M250. In any case, it's one price that covers all riders, and our driver was our guide for the entire day wherever we wanted to go for as many cenotes as we wanted to visit until 6PM. Super deal, and he stayed with us at each stop, watched our bags while we swam, took us to lunch, etc. We were happy to pay, plus tip. Also, admission to the cenotes was extra, all were $M30 per person for as long as you wanted to stay. All had at least some form of bathroom, and the access into the cenotes was by a fairly steep but sturdy ladder. I felt safe swimming at all of our stops. The trip home was on a collectivo for $M30 per person, and was a much faster trip than the bus. All in all, it was a fantastic and fun day, truly one of the highlights of our trip.

On our quest to check out some cenotes during our short time in Merida, all the research pointed us to the Cuzamas cenotes. Our driver said those were fine but there were usually a lot of tourists and some kind of strife over money and the land with the owners of the place. He recommended some cenotes down the road only open about 4 months, Cenotes Santa Barbara in the town of Homun,. We are so glad we took his recommendation. We almost had the place to ourselves! There are 3 cenotes open to the public, with another couple cenotes opening to the public next year. There is also an excellent restaurant on-site with actual regional food and handmade tortillas. No hamburgers here!
Our guide was very friendly and there was no time limit at the cenotes. He was glad to answer our questions and provide more info about the environment and the history of the cenotes.
The pictures don't capture how rad the cenotes are. Quiet and beautiful, you have to see them for yourselves. When the tour is over you can continue your adventure by taking a group taxi (colectivo) from the town of Homun. About 12 people stuffed in a van all heading back to Merida for about a dollar. It's a cool way to actually experience everyday life in Merida.

I live in Mexico and have been to few cenotes already. But this time it was something completely different. Those cenotes comparing to the ones closer to Tulum or Valladolid aren’t busy at all, at times we were the only ones in there ( except the one with the ropes, that was busy but so much fun you absolutely don’t mind ). We drove there so won’t be any help on how to reach the place by public transport. Also, I would only add that you’d probably rather choose Homún over Cuzama where they still use horses and they’re not in the best shape, that’s all I’ll say. But, let me please mention our guide. A local man, Sr Martin who went beyond and above to make us feel safe ( important in Mexico! ), welcome and not rushed. He had a patience of an angel, we completely entrusted ourselves to him and he chose all the cenotes we went to. And they were amazing!!! When I go back ( when, not if! ) I will definitely use him again... one the most gentle person I’ve met in Mexico. If you’d like to have an amazing time that’s his number: 9994134779, Señor Martin. If you speak Spanish give him a call, if not you could reach him via WhatsApp and use an online translator :) One of the best experiences in Yucatan P.S. most of the guides will ask for a price around 200 pesos, but as someone who lives in Mexico I know it’s not a lot at all...just petrol alone is more expensive than in US. So if you can and want don’t hesitate to tip well :)

Hola.

Aunque si tienes tiempo ve ambos ninguno te defraudara.
Si tienes alguna consulta mas no dudes en contactarme, ya he visitado yucatan 7 veces.
Un saludo
