About
The Rex has one huge screen set in a glorious 1938 art-deco proscenium with the sharpest film projection and clearest non-booming sound anywhere in the world. Throughout, its seating is big and soft. It has been called luxurious. It is better. It is civilized. It reminds us of what we have long stopped expecting from public buildings.

My favourite 1930’s Cinema to date !
Visited with an elderly woman was kindly taken to our seats and table the friendly assistant carried our drinks . The seats are very comfortable downstairs where we sat of course not reclining, my only complaint was it was chilly we were near an exit door ( access for wheelchair users or compromised mobility.) And near toilets downstairs. I advise you bring a knee blanket if in cooler months . The Drinks and snack’s reasonably priced . No hot food . Décor fabulous absolutely loved it The area Rex runs really interesting films and foreign films too

    An affordable superior experience
A very different cinema experience that is so much more enjoyable. Friendly staff and the ability to sit in great comfort and have a drink whilst enjoying the film elevate this to a different level from the multi screen cinemas. Being able to book a Royal Box make this a good venue to take anyone you wish to impress.

A Gem of a Place. Like Going Back in Time in a Wonderful Way
We went to see the ABBA night. We have never been to this place before. As we went in, it was like going back to how cinemas were in the 60's. Lovely. Nostalgic. Then, we sat at a cabaret-style table and watched a film. Brilliant!

    A beautiful and unique cinema
Going to The Rex Cinema is a wonderful experience. You step into a beautiful art deco setting - a place that is valued and looked after. It certainly makes a difference over other places. It was a popular choice for many people that evening!

It was our first trip to the Rex - I've been to independent cinemas before, but nothing quite as magical as the Rex. From stepping in, you know that a lot of thought and passion goes into creating the perfect environment - the artwork on the walls and the shelf of film books. It's really relaxed. We grabbed a drink and headed in to our seats. The level of comfort is...HIGH. ALL the leg room, comfy seats and just a chill atmosphere. We were in the upstairs, and we could hear the more laid-back bar area downstairs, but it didn't distract us at all. We were in row D, and the only mild issue was that the seats weren't tiered so much so we could see the tops of the heads in front of us while we watched the film - I think it only affects that row, tbh! This is a film-lover's haven and I can't wait to go back. (Pic taken from row H - we changed seats when we saw we could be a little closer).

Big comfy movable seats and tables, a comprehensive bar, amazing building and décor and a great playlist of films. It’s a winner for me.

It's lush and gorgeous and shows a fair few classy films, including some with subtitles, that you won't find at the multiplex. I'd like to see them ditch the action blockbusters myself.

So cosy and warm inside. Very reasonably priced tickets and snacks and drinks. Comfortable seats and a great view. Always worth waiting for a film here over a general cinema.
