Popped in before a meal in the high street and was pleasantly surprised by how nice this pub was.
Really nice atmosphere and a decent choice of beers and lagers.
Everyone seemed friendly and the prices were more than reasonable.
Only had a few drinks...More
Has come a long way, even in recent times. Used to go to The Lamb, but after it's sad demise, happy to use The George in its ideal High St location. Tring Beer, and welcoming bar-staff are great improvements, and there is a pleasant buzz...More
Whenever you visit this pub, there is always someone up for a chat. The beer is Cask Marque and always delicious (especially The Proper Job). This pub is the standard that all other Berko pubs should aim for.
Popped in to escape the rain and grab a cab home, ended up with a warming drink and a bit of a yarn with the barman and locals. Very friendly crew and a good laugh. Will stay for a few pints next time!
Always busy, so must be doing something right, but I got a slightly unfriendly vibe when I tried it. There are plenty of other pubs in Berko, and I've been made to feel much more welcome elsewhere.
Local pub for local people, maybe.
The George lnn has great ales and lagers, and an exceptionally good wine list.
Wonderful interesting Western and Aisian food at tbe weekends too.
It is the best pub in Berkhamsted, period, end of, 'nuff said.
The George is a compact little pub right on the high street. There always seems to be a decent crowd in. There is a nice atmosphere and they sell a nice selection of beers.
Seats are at a premium but most folk seem happy standing...More
