We visited the beach on a sunny afternoon, which was absolutely worth it. The water is a little bit cold in March, but that's neither surprising nor off-putting. From what we could tell there were quite a few sandflies around, so be prepared for that.

This is the place to learn to surf and locals have made it a mission and a business to help those who want to catch waves get out there and do it. Most beautiful expansive beach with relatively gentle waves depending on the tides. Stop by and have a swim or take a surf lesson

It was the main surfing beach in town. I was there in March and there were at least 35 people over a mille long beach. There was a bathroom and water fountain area. Everything was free. Free parking as well. Bring mosquito repellent since there were so many sand flies. I got bitten like 30 times. The bugs were super... More

We've seen some stunning beaches in our time but this is right up there with the best. Great parking, great facilities, plenty of room for everyone and a great mix of people all enjoying the amazing, clear, clean surf.

Wow, what a view in every direction. Amazing beaches, rocks and mountain views. Stunning spot to take photos. Toilets available and a good beach for whatever activity you might choose. Interesting sculptures. Beautiful farm land behind the beaches with views to the distant wind farm. This whole coast line is just amazing, go down every road leading to a beach... More

You need to be fit to visit this beach as it is down a very steep walk. Full of surfers so take care if you swim.

We were a little late in the morning and parking was busy. There is a good downhill walk to the beach and a couple of places to watch the surfers on the way up. Pretty black sand beach well worth a visit

One of the best beaches i was in NZ. Surfer area, big & sauvage. Not far from the Raglan Center, a nice town.

Not great weather, but we did go for a swim and enjoyed it! Would still not feel too crowded on a busy day.

Ok we loved this beach - it was simply beautiful and then the Life Saving crew were so fantastic and took my older relatives up the kind of crazy hill in their buggy to the carpark!
