Walking the old cobble stones of Murten is a great way to spend time in this medieval town, Once you leave the main road (the one with all the shops etc) it becomes a wonderful calm, laid-back small town.

We passed this village on our way to Engelberg and stopped for coffee at one of the many cafes. Beautiful, charming and romantic town where one can easily spend 2-3 hours to take in the medieval buildings and historic architecture.

Well preserved medieval buildings lined the Town Street. It was a relaxing and quiet walk, enjoying the old and colorful buildings and houses. Worth a visit on our way to Bern.

We took the train from Bern and spent several hours in this well-preserved medieval town. The ramparts are easily accessible and we enjoyed submerging ourselves in the long history of the place. The little town is filled with specialty shops and there are dozens little sidewalk cafes and restaurants. Everything was clean and visitor friendly. It was a nice place to visit.
