We took the boat to see the waterfall "Saut de Doubs". It was a warm and sunny day and the ride was calm and slow. You had enough time to see the surrounding nature, which is beautiful. The water was low, which gave a very different impression of the river and forrest. It took about 20 minutes. We walked back,... More

The lake was very low due to the drough, so the waterfall wasn't there, but even without that this little boat trip, and the small walk, was really great. You feel surrounded by nature, and we even got to see some wild animals that felt so secure they didn't "run away" from the boat when we passed by (I saw... More

Boat trip is nice with interesting comments from the captain on the history and wildlife information. Then 10minutes walk to reach the fall. A bridge give the option to go on the French or the swiss border. Honestly not sure that make any significant difference . Worth taking the time to do it.

One of the brochures which inspired me to visit Sault du Doubs described it as the Niagara Falls of France. Well, it's nothing like Niagara Falls in anyway other than the fact that it's a waterfall. Rheinfall or Rhine Falls (http://www.rheinfall.ch/en/) in Switzerland is a far better comparison. The boat ride on the lake is pleasant. As the lake is... More

It's the border of France with Swiss, the river is separating them. Each side you see lots of beautiful trees and a non-end nature. Sometimes a small house appears in there, sometimes a grotto or a waterfall. Amazing and not very famous place to be.

Nice little walk from Les Brenets to the falls. The path was paved almost all the way to the falls (only the last 300m is a dirt road, but ok for strollers). You can visit the falls from both the Swiss or the French side FYI: The Swiss AG/GA for the trains is not valide for the boats on the... More

We visited Bateaux du Saut du Doubs in early September as we were traveling from Port Lesney to Equishiem (a small detour). The departure point was very easily found on the Rue des Terres Rouges on the south end of the village of Villers-le-Lac. The cost of the boat trip to the Saut du Doubs was 14.50 euro each for... We went there on a hot day. We had decided to walk the way to there starting from the " Brenets" to reach the waterfall after an hour. The path starts next to the lakeside, up on forest with wonderful views to the lake and the surrounding rocks to end up to the forest street. It is an easy path... More

It seems most of visitors are approaching the Doubs falls from France. Suggest an alternative: Start in Le Locle, hop on an modest train to Les Brenets, walk either to the falls, or take a trip by boat with a 10 minutes walk. If you are interested in architecture, visit hotel Rive du Doubs. It is an early work of... More

We visited Saut du Doubs (not Doubts!!) when there was snow on the ground, so the boat trip down river was beautiful with terrific views of the Swiss side and snow capped houses in the valleys. The boat guide was very informative (though all in French) and the boat trip alone was worth the fair. The short walk (20 mins)... More
