After visiting Nigardsbreen, Briksdal Glacier was next on the schedule. We elected to go on foot, initial walk was quit steep, later more flat. The waterfall was most impressive, we actually spend more time admiring the 'fosse' then the glacier. As pointed by others, the glacier is disappearing so expect to see less ice then on shown on most photo's.

Was a foggy morning, but within the 15 minute drive from the nearby cabin to the glacier the fog lifted. Only charge was the $50kr for parking, has a nice 45 minutes walk to view the glacier. You don't actually get right up to the glacier (we're about 50-60+ years too late, it's receded) Lovely walk on a well groomed... More

After enjoying the scenery en route from Olden. We took the troll car (an open vehicle about 8 people travelling a little faster than walking pace ) .definitely worth doing if you cant walk very well . Such a beautiful area I chose to sketch just below the glacier. My husband walked up the steep path to the glacier. Later... More

We went to see the Glacier in Sept 2016 and we were quite shocked at how quickly it is disappearing. There is a lovely walk up to the Glacier from the shop / Cafe at the bottom, although it is faily uphill and about 2 miles long. For anyone who is unable to walk that far, you can book a... More

This is a very steep climb, took around 40mins, we decided to go straight up to the top. then take photo's on the way back down! Take a rain coat as the spray from the water falls gets you very wet! The glacier is stunning and well worth the climb. There is a very good restaurant at the base and... More

The most amazing views of the glacier where you see and touch the freezing water melting from the glacier. We chose to take the troll car due to time restrains but it was a great little drive and the walk would have been a little too long if you are not very fit. The ride costs NK$120 per person return... take the time to walk to Briksdal Glacier and you will not be disappointed. While the walk is 3 km each way it is well worth it with splendid photo opportunities anlng the way of waterfalls and other scenic masterpieces.

It's a bit far but worth visiting. You don't have to take the car service to the glacier and the walk to the watefall is worth it.

Reached by going to the town of Olden. At the start near the car park (about £5 to park) there is a restaurant, cafe, gift shop. You can also pay to ride up to the glacier in a golf buggy type transport (around £20 each). It is not necessary as it is a fairly flat steady walk and not too... More
