We booked to Climb Mt Ruapehu with Adrift based on a recommendation. Stew was our guide, he owns the company. Met on the mountain and discussed weather which was not good. We really wanted to go, as we were preparing for another much bigger climb, and Stew said it was safe, but we would get wet. Stew taught us some... More

Very poor experience with Adrift. Weather was windy so it was decided to start from opposite end of hike and not complete crossing. We went half way out and back. However, we saw many hikers coming from the other direction who clearly completed the crossing. We should have started earlier when weather was better. Start time was far too late.... More

I seriously recommend going unguided after my experience with Adrift. At least then I would have experienced success, rather than be humiliated. I was scheduled for a sunrise hike, which was postponed due to weather (understandable). However a group walk the next day was very disappointing. Sam was very unhelpful and I felt pushed to continue walking despite me being... More

My daughter and I flew from NY to do the 3 day (2 night) Northern Circuit. Not knowing what to expect, we hired Adrift and we were both very happy with our guide (James) and the overall experience that the Adrift team provided. On the first morning of our hike, Adrift picked us up from our hotel and took us... More

We are not fit, not accomplished walkers so thought we ought to have a guided tour. Sam was our man. Very laid back and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He guided us safely at an appropriate pace ensuring rest stops etc. Sam also doubled up as cameraman to take photos. Adrift can provide you with hats, gloves, boots, Sun glasses and... More

We were only one night in the area and had scheduled the sunset hike as a specific. Andrea met us and took us on a fabulous journey and short hike into the forest. The weather had shifted, so we were not able to get to the sunset view area but the views, nature and information were amazing. I will go... More

The crossing is an amazing experience, and the guides from adrift certainly find a way to improve it even more. From the moment they give you any gear you need to the beer you get at the end everything is amazing. Dougs a very good and fun guide and I really can't stress enough how much more enjoyable Jenni did... More

I am writing this review from the perspective of someone who has climbed many times in the Tongariro National Park. I've also been on two winter guided hikes over the Crossing with Adrift Outdoor Adventures. So my day started with just Stu and I planning to climb Mt Ruapehu but as we approached Whakapapa it became obvious that the weather... More

Our experience with Adrift was superb. When we called the day before our scheduled hike, they suggested that we push back a day due to a bad weather warning, which we did. It worked out spectacularly because the weather on the rescheduled day was perfect. Clear and warm with beautiful views across the entire park. The group was small, about... More

Fantastic trek on Saturday Oct 29, this walk was a great experience with magnificent views, multiple terrains and all types of weather - we had sun, snow, mist and steam sometimes all together - it fully lived up to expectations. Very pleased with everything provided by Adrift Guided Outdoor Adventures especially our guide, Andrea, who was very professional at all... More
