Lovely walk across the wetlands and although quite steep most active people could do it without issue. Amazing views from the top - well worth doing!

The Okarito trig walk involves a fairly steep climb to reach a simply amazing view. The panoramic view includes the beach, lagoon, wetlands, rainforest, mountains and glacier. Not sure where else you can see this from the one platform. Highly recommend.

We think we are fairly fit Brits for walks, but you have to smile when this is described as an easy walk in some literature. I think they have to have a different grading system in NZ as they are a hardy bunch, but for...More

We had some time in the afternoon during our October stay in Franz Josef. I had read that the Okarito Trig Walk offered some nice ocean views as well as an opportunity to see Mount Adams and Mt. Cook. Unfortunately for us it was very...More

The Okarito Trig Walk is a short but steep climb up to the viewing deck from where you can see the ocean, lagoon, mountains and glaciers. The top deck is a bit small. There were 3 people already on the top when 2 of us...More
