The site is covered with the remains of fossilised trees which are very ancient. It is interesting to think that a large forest once existed in this area which is now desert.

Crazy to think there was a huge forest with big trees, where you now only sand around you! Some rock-trees are dark, some are white, some are red, beautiful colours! Some trees really look like wood.. until you touch them... Super heavy!

Many nearly complete trees over a wide area. Really worth a visit for the geology of Sudan and what the ancient past was like.
