Walked a pleasant marked trail around the fields with interesting views of the Mill and surrounding area. Popular with dog walkers and others like myself just out for a stroll. There is a good information building with Constable reproductions and a popular NT tea room at hand. It is possible to hire boats at more clement times of the year.... More

Visited here today, we had a buggy with us, there's steps to go down or you can take the road but be wary it's a hill on the way back up. We had lunch in the tea room first, prices were cheap and the food was great. Nice selection of cakes and scones too. Our hot lunch was delivered to... More

Lovely setting. As Members the car park was free which is a bonus cheap day out. Will be stunning in spring/summer.

The area of the mill, where is organised and managed by national trust is so beautiful. The river, the lock and the facade of the houses are mesmerising. But don't expect to see the mill! Cause it is a private house now. Don't forget to have proper boots or wellies specially if you visit in winter. The nature is profound... More

As the sun was out we decided to walk off some of the Christmas excess and have a nice walk around Flatford to see for ourselves where Constable painted The Haywain, Flatford Lock and Boys Fishing. It was actually quite spine-tingling to be standing looking at these very familiar scenes in real life. Although the tea rooms etc were all... More

The food is tasty, but very expensive. It's cost is similar to Costa or Starbucks but homemade (?). A bacon roll cost £4.50 and consists of two slices of bacon and a small roll. A mocha costs £2.70, and was nice and warming during these cold winter months. There cakes and scones are always nice. The views from the restaurant... More

Go for the views, that is the main attraction. There are occassional low key small events and things of interest to do the staff and cheery and enthusiastic. There's a walk from the Mill over to Dedham which is pleasant and easy. The signposting in the surrounding area isn't great, so plan your route. The car park is £4.

An interesting place to visit. We would like to return in better weather and take more advantage of the walking routes. Very scenic and unspoiled-a real gem. A very pleasant tearoom.

The National Trust has done a great job to develop a very attractive visitor site, with wonderful buildings, interesting [modest] walks and on-site courses. The shop and cafe complement the whole experience and there's a helpful introduction to the artistry of John Constable. Left after a 3-hour visit knowing that there was plenty more to see and that my wife... More

Lovely setting where John Constable created so many of his works, now preserved by the National Trust. Short walk from the carpark and an on-site cafe to satisfy your hunger/thirst. The buildings are privately owned and occupied, but you are able to walk around the site and the surrounding countryside or hire a boat to row on the River Stour.
