Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Free museum. It was a pleasant surprise to visit the Sea Museum. We found an exhibition very interesting and very well explained. It also contains a collection of paintings/sculptures by a local author, which we did not know; but we found excellent

When we were there it was not accessible due to the filming of the Netflix film El Cautivo/The Captive. We saw the actors walking around in 14th century clothing. But of the castle itself, only the outside has been seen. Went again a week later. The actors were gone and the set was torn down. Not everything was accessible yet. There is also a parking garage under the castle. So you don't have to park in the streets around it.

This is the main historic building of Santa Pola which is actually the city centre.
Lovely building and surounding which is the home of the Sea City Museum. It is also the home of Santa Pola patron on her lovely and cute chapel (Capilla de la Virgen de Loreto).
If there is something happening in Santa Pola, it is definitely not too far from El Castillo

Located in the middle of Santa Pola. Castle is just nice to see once. Easily accessible by car. Parking is possible in the streets around it, paid, under the castle.
There are 2 museums in the courtyard, and a small church. Unfortunately the church was closed.
Just do it once.
On the square in front is for good prices to drink and eat. Close to the beach, about 10 minutes walk. Also close to the port, to take the boat to Tarbarca.

Old castle right in the center. Had to use GPS in the car so we found the right one. Nice destination on a rainy and windy day. Much to see, 2 museums in a s a s. Hard to chew with parking in santa Pola, worth thinking

We strolled through the centre of Santa Pola having wandered around the Port area on a warm October evening. Lovely buildings with a chapel and a museum. Christmas decorations were just being put up - bet it looks lovely then! Nice place to wander.

We entered by a strange long tunnel then got in a small lift and went up really high as this castle is soooooo high up! I get vertigo so when I got out of lift was slightly apprehensive but we stopped at the cafe for chocolate and coffee! The views were absolutely fabulous as we were so high! There was a lot of walking on very uneven ground but was interesting! There were two museums inside on different levels and showed some really old artefacts like pots and flints! On every level was notices in Spanis and English so very good!

The castle was built in the mid 16th century and has been restored since then. There are two interesting museums in the castle. The first is the castle museum and shows the archaeology and history of the area from prehistoric times to the Roman era. For me it was very interesting and the exhibits were well displayed with notices in English as well as in Spanish and Catalan. The second museum was the museum of the sea with exhibits relating to the maritime traditions of the town.

No information available to explain where in history this fits into. Four walls, windows with bars. Little of interest
