Overview

More
The René Magritte Museum occupies the house in which the Belgian surrealist painter worked nearly 24 years of his life. On the ground floor the museum presents the apartment where the painter lived and worked from 1930 to 1954, A biographical exhibition is spread on the two other floors. The period spent at the rue Esseghem, the only house which is open to the public since 1999, remains the most fascinating one for anybody who wishes to approach the painter. Don't mix this museum up with the Magritte Museum in the center, which is a wing of the Fine Arts Museum.

The Hoho bus stops about 10 minutes walk away but the driver sent us in the wrong direction so took more like 30 minutes to find. Worth the detour for Magritte fans to see the small ground floor apartment, recreated like a time capsule, where...More

Specific melancholy of this place allowes to learn more about the atmosphere of Belgium. It allowes you to forget about the world outside, and immerse yourself in the world of imagination of that particular artist.

You have to get a timed-reservation on line -- it is really a three story house in the middle of a block in a residential area. Ring the door bell at the time appointed on your ticket and someone will let you in. They have...More

Very off the beaten track museum: the house where Magritte lived and worked. It has many of his works and exposes his professional work, largely in Advertising

As someone who isn’t a keen lover of art but has a little interest this museum was interesting & was a nice bit of culture in Brussels for us rather than just shopping round. It didn’t have his most famous works in but then again...More
