I guess I'm not sure what I really expected. Our guide was very knowledgeable with the history so kudos for that. We got a quick view from a window of part of the cheese making operations then we went into a room and she presented...More

This was our first stop and how appropriate that turned out to be. It was the cheese factory that provided the revenue source for the original 12 Quaker families that came to Monteverde to "dodge" the draft according to their beliefs. So in addition to...More

We went to the cheese factory right after new years, expecting to pay the $10 for the tour. We were then told that the price of the tour had increased by $2 as it was the new year. A 20% increase seems quite hefty, if...More

This is an educational and tasty stop along tour route. It's amazing that they have literally carved such a thriving dairy business out of such a hilly, tropical forest.

Just returned from Costa Rica...Enjoyed our tour of the Cheese Factory and hearing the history of this business. The samples of cheese were wonderful along with the ice cream that we purchased after the tour. Very rich!

We stopped in but did not do the tour. You can see into the processing room through the glass window. The ice cream was really good! It was very creamy and I got the rum raison.

You can't just have one scoop of their homemade ice cream, since so many flavors are stupendous and use local fruit.
