Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Don't miss boat-trip (50 EUR for 1hour, for a boat, 1-10 persons). If you want to have FULL experience, take canoe or kayak (rent it), as boat-engine sound scares birds.
If you are an adventursit, you can camp :) No water, eletricity, shop... Everything you have to bring with yourself first day...

On the south of Hercegovina, in tipically karst environment, on the left side of the Neretva river there is unique submediterranean swamp „Hutovo blato“ famous as green oasis with abundance of fresh water in which are very suitable life conditions for lots of bird and animal species. Swamp is also interesting from ornitho-ichthyological, scientific , ecological and touristic aspect.
Hutovo blato is considered as one of the biggest wintering places for birds in the Europe. Because of its importance and natural beauty Hutovo blato is proclaimed as Nature Park in 1995.
The biggest lakes of Hutovo blato are: Deransko lake, Jelim lake, Drijen lake, Orah lake, Škrka lake and Svitava lake. Svitava lake is artificial accumulation originated from making a Hydropower Čapljina. All the lakes are mutually connected with many channels and gullies.
River Krupa is a unique river in Europe because it flows in both ways.
You can go on a photo safari, sport fishing, hiking, biking & enjoy local cuisine.

This is the place where 27th World Club Fishing Championship (2007) took place.
It has a lot of beauty and potential which is just partly used. Best way to experience it is by boat which can be rented for tours there.
There is also a restaurant and small hotel nearby.

I've been coming to Bosnia since 1999 and since a lot of it. I've heard of Hutovo Blato (to spell it correctly) for years, even have a picture of it in the Sarajevo place where I stay. But the best times to visit -- in the fall and May I'm not here. Finally, I decided to visit with friends over the Fourth of July and though it may have been the wrong time of year -- it was pretty grand. As with most of the nature sites I've been to in Bosnia, the place was almost deserted -- and stunningly beautiful. Water lilies in yellow and white, birds, insects, trees and shrubs in abundance, this is one of the major bird migratory stops in Europe and beautiful for hiking or birding. Take the boat ride. We opted for the 45-minute ride -- at about $8 each -- and I'm now bugging my friends to drive back down for the three-hour ride this weekend. Really, I cannot say enough good things about this park -- and I'm an ex-Florida resident who has been repeatedly to the Everglades. (PS no Burmese pythons in Hutovo Blato!)

We only drove through the park accidentally (they didn't let us into the country further south as we didn't have a green card, an insurance proof for your vehicle, with us - long story short --> bring a green card and, if you want to enter Bosnia from Croatia, take the transit border on the coast; the only street towards the interior will then bring you to the park, just stay on M17.3 at Hutovo (DON'T take the R426 there).
The park is just beautiful and there are almost no people. Just make sure you don't run out of fuel - there's not one gas station in the south surroundings of the park.

If you want to spend the day in the silence and beauty of nature then Hutovo blato is the place for it. Beautiful nature and walking paths. Within the park there is a motel where you can eat. To experience all the mysteries of a nature park, you must ride a boat. It's an unforgettable experience. During the drive you can see a large number of birds that are housed in a nature park. The environment is neat and clean.

We wanted to arrive at the park in the evening, so that we could see the park early in the morning. We were thinking of staying for the night in the village of Svitava. However, we were told that there was no accommodation available and the closest places for accommodation were Neum and Caplinja. Thus, the infrastructure for tourists is not reliable at all, which is weird because at the waterfalls from Kravice, not far away, the infrastructure is great.

If you're geographically near the natural oasis called Hutovo Blato, try not to miss it. This untouched nature is going to give you a full relaxational experience you won't regret!

Beautiful nature. A walk is required, as well as boating. Nearby is a small hotel, where you can drink coffee and lunch.

Beautiful view, nature, surroundings. But I was disgusted about the trash that is left behind around the lake and swamp. In september not much to see (of birds)

What is the best place to arrive at the park to get involved in a photo safari/ boat trip? On the map it looks like to park covers a large area but it is not clear how to access it.

We are visiting the park during the first week in April 2019. What birds are usually around then and where are the best places to see them? Is it possible to hire a guide for a day? We have binoculars and a scope.
