Having spent holidays at Port Alfred as a youngster in the 1960's the difference to today is remarkable, but the river although developed, has lost none of its attraction for the traveller.

Beautiful setting as 1 drives to the coast from inland Grahamstown. Not much happening out of season.

Went up river with Let's Go Tours. Still very beautiful. Sad to see littler on the banks in some places. The bird life is good to see. A very pleasant afternoon

A river cruise on the Kowie is a must, if you are visiting Port Alfred. Serene, tranquil and a great way to watch the sun go down whist sipping a cocktail.

Awesome trips down the Kowie and the magnificent bird life is always a treat. Low tide is still problematic but worth the effort if you know the river :-)
